We report a novel presenilin 1 (PSN1) mutation (Thr116Ile) in a woman with early onset Alzheimer's disease (AD). This mutation was not found in 100 healthy controls, indicating that this is not a common polymorphism. The patient presented with forgetfulness at age 45, followed over the next 3 years by a worsening of the memory loss and frequent episodes of confusion and spatial disorientation. Neuroimaging studies were consistent with AD. The analysis of the family's pedigree showed that the proband was apparently the only member affected. The present paper aims to present a brief survey of Turkish women writers in English translation. Due to the dominant position of English, Turkey has been rather dependent on translations from this language and the flow of translations into the opposite direction has been quite slow. Yet, there is a considerable increase in the number of translations from Turkish into English especially since the 1980s. This also holds true for the works of women writers, and, of women’s fiction in particular, which is closely related to the bond between writing and women’s increased consciousness. La isla constituye un espacio de ficción en toda la tradición literaria griega en tanto que lugar propicio de aventuras para el héroe. En este estudio se propone un análisis diacrónico de los textos griegos desde la literatura arcaica hasta la época bizantina. Two centuries later, the legend Chopin-Sand continues to supply the collective imaginary with vague readings, where historical truthfulness, let alone musical truth, is often contingent on the literary. The much discussed and bellicose romance between the Polish composer and the French novelist, George Sand, tends to some reductionism and evades an obvious reality: Fryderyk Chopin meets George Sand when she was already the mother of two children. This circumstance suggests reformulating certain romantic stereotypes. Aquest article vol centrar-se en un aspecte d’aquesta producció: la referida a les narracions que dintre de la literatura catalana actual l’han abordat.
