Superhuman Cognitions, Fourth Dimension and Speculative Comics Narrative : Panel Repetition in Watchmen and From Hell

Abstract: This article investigates the use of repeating panels in relation to speculative fiction storytelling in graphic novels Watchmen and From Hell , written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Dave Gibbons and Eddie Campbell, respectively. Presenting the same panel several times over the course of the narrative is an expressive medium-specific narrative technique available only to comics. Na przełomie wieków XIX i XX Huch zainteresowała się jako historyk i powieściopisarz historią walk narodowowyzwoleńczych we Włoszech i wystawiła swoisty pomnik literacki bohaterom włoskiego risorgimento. Analysis of the Economic Potential Trough Biochar Use for Soybean Production in Poland

Soybean (Glycine max L.) is one of the most important crops grown globally. Biochar has been proposed as an alternative to aid sustainable soybean production. However, comprehensive studies that include both the economic aspects of soybean production and biochar are scarce. Poland, with an economy largely based on agriculture, is an interesting case to investigate the cost-effectiveness of using biochar in soybean production. We show that the use of biochar at rates of 40, 60 and 80 t/ha is unprofitable compared with a traditional soil amendment, such as NPK fertilization. Sienkiewicz’s readers certainly known the writer’s favourite, archaically styled terms folga (“relief”, “respite”, “indulgence”) and folgować (“to follow”, “to allow”, “indulge someone/something”), etymologically derived from the German Folge (“consequence”, “result”, “aftermath”) and folgen (“to follow”, “to obey”, “to submit to”). They are found in Sienkiewicz’s texts more than seventy times, and not only in historical novels, where their use is motivated by the chronotope of the past.
