Application of action camera video for fast and low-cost photogrammetric survey of cultural heritage

The research work focuses on the growing of fast and low-cost data surveying methods (both in the acquisition and processing phases), to be used mainly as a support for the management and enhancement of architectural heritage. Attention is paid on the diffusion of action cameras, characterized by wide-angle lenses and 4K video shooting, with more and more affordable prices and on the elaboration of the data with photogrammetry software. Diagnosis and therapeutic management of primary headache in an emergency setting

Introduction and aim: Much headachers are under or mis-diagnoses and data regarding the proportion of patients attending an emergency department (ED) because of headache are still few. We conducted a retrospective observational study in an ED with the following aims: (a) estimate the proportion of headache attending to an ED (b) to estimate and describe the therapeutic management of primary headache and (c) to assessment the exam most frequently requested. Materials and methods: We collected data regarding patients diagnosed with headache consecutively attending the ED of the University of Palermo between September 2011 and March 2012. The study was approved by the ethics committee. Results: Between the semester evaluated 25110 subjects were admitted to ED headache suffers were equal to 1.6 %. Of these 263 (63.1 %) were woman and 154 (36.9 %). Mean age was 44.2 (DS ± 18.4) years (p = 0.068).According to ED registry headache admission was as follow assigned: 76.5 % with a diagnosis of headache 22.8 % with a secondary headache 0.7 % with Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalgias (TACs). Among those with a primary headache about 36 % of patient did not received a pharmacological treatment. Monotherapy was prescribed less frequently than combination therapy (19.1 vs 44.5 %).In monotherapy the most frequent medication were NSAIDs (28.3 %) benzodiazepines (26.7 %) and dopamine antagonists (11.7 %). Among those with a primary headache a CT scan was performed in the 124 subjects and 111 (34.8 %) had a neurologist consultation. Discussion: Our data are in line with the one previously reported in literature. The most frequently medication in the Italian ED were NSAIDs benzodiazepines dopamine antagonists and steroids. Neverless our data unlikely can be compared to other study give a snapshot. We believe that much more can be done to improve treatment of primary headache in ED.Settore MED/26 - Neurologia

The controversy between Dworkin and legal positivism has lasted more than forty years. After Dworkin’s death, a reflection on this debate is needed. This paper faces some of the most important and popular arguments Dworkin advanced against legal positivism. More precisely, the article is divided in two main parts. The first is devoted to a critical presentation of three arguments developed by Dworkin in his early essays against Hart’s practice theory of norms. 1D antiferromagnetism in spin‐alternating bimetallic chains

The magnetic and thermal properties of the ordered bimetallic chain CoNi(EDTA)⋅6H2O in the very low‐temperature range are reported. The magnetic behavior does not exhibit the characteristic features of 1D ferrimagnets, but a continuous decrease of χmT towards zero at absolute zero. This 1D antiferromagnetic behavior results from an accidental compensation between the moments located at the two sublattices. This behavior, as well as the specific‐heat results, are modeled on the basis of an Ising‐exchange model that considers both alternating spins and Landé factors, and a zero‐field splitting on the Ni site. Magnetism and EPR spectra of the two‐sublattice manganese chain Mn2(EDTA)⋅9H2O

We report on the magnetic behavior and single‐crystal EPR spectra of the chain complex Mn2(EDTA)⋅9H2O characterized by two different alternating sites for the manganese ions. Magnetic susceptibility data are indicative of weak antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between the manganese ions, showing a maximum of about 3 K. This behavior can be accurately described on the basis of a Heisenberg chain model that assumes classical spins, giving J/k=−0.72 K and g=2.0. The EPR spectra are typically low dimensional, with an angular dependence of the linewidth of the type (3 cos2 θ−1)n (n=4/3 or 2). Associations between sexual activity and weight status: Findings from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing.

Objective To investigate the association between weight status and sexual activity in middle-aged and older adults. Methods Cross-sectional analysis on Wave 6 (2012/13) of the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing. Data were from 2,200 men and 2,737 women aged ≥50 years (mean 68.2 years). The explanatory variable was weight status, defined as normal-weight (BMI: ≤24.9), overweight (BMI: 25.0–29.9) or obese (BMI: ≥30) based on objective measurements of height and weight.
