Design of Asymmetric Shift Operators for Efficient Decentralized Subspace Projection
2021
A large number of applications in decentralized signal processing includes projecting a vector of noisy observations onto a subspace dictated by prior information about the field being monitored. Accomplishing such a task in a centralized fashion in networks is prone to a number of issues such as large power consumption, congestion at certain nodes and suffers from robustness issues against possible node failures. Decentralized subspace projection is an alternative method to address those issues. Recently, it has been shown that graph filters (GFs) can be implemented to perform decentralized subspace projection. However, most of the existing methods have focused on designing GFs for symmetr…
Analog Photonic Fractional Signal Processing
2018
In this work, we provide an up to date overview on the subject of photonic fractional signal processing, including both, in-fiber and waveguide on-chip technology. Thus, we discuss in detail fractional differentiation, fractional integration, fractional Hilbert transforms, and finally, fractional Fourier transforms. In each case, the underlying mathematical principles are explained for each operation, together with a short historical discussion in the context of classical optics. After that, the different proposals to perform these operations photonically on the complex field envelope of a given light pulse are presented, divided according to its working principle. Finally, current applicat…
¿Por qué existen los bancos?
2004
Links and Bifurcations in Nonsingular Morse–Smale Systems
1997
Wada's theorem classifies the set of periodic orbits in NMS systems on S3 as links, that can be written in terms of six operations. This characterization allows us to study the topological restrictions that links require to suffer a given codimension one bifurcation. Moreover, these results are reproduced in the case of NMS systems with rotational symmetries, introducing new geometrical tools.
Beilinson Motives and Algebraic K-Theory
2019
Section 12 is a recollection on the basic results of stable homotopy theory of schemes, after Morel and Voevodsky. In particular, we recall the theory of orientations in a motivic cohomology theory. Section 13 is a recollection of the fundamental results on algebraic K-theory which we translate into results within stable homotopy theory of schemes. In particular, Quillen’s localization theorem is seen as an absolute purity theory for the K-theory spectrum. In Section 14, we introduce the fibred category of Beilinson motives as an appropriate Verdier quotient of the motivic stable homotopy category. Using the Adams filtration on K-theory, we prove that Beilinson motives have the properties o…
Hydropower Potential in Water Distribution Networks: Pressure Control by PATs
2014
Pressure control is one of the main techniques to control leakages in Water Distribution Networks (WDNs) and to prevent pipe damage, improving the delivery standards of a water supply systems. Pressure reducing stations (PRSs) equipped by either pressure reducing valves or motor driven regulating valves are commonly used to dissipate excess hydraulic head in WDNs. An integrated new technical solution with economic and system flexibility benefits is presented which replaces PRSs with pumps used as turbines (PATs). Optimal PAT performance is obtained by a Variable Operating Strategy (VOS), recently developed for the design of small hydropower plants on the basis of valve time operation, and n…
Isotropic stochastic flow of homeomorphisms on Sd for the critical Sobolev exponent
2006
Abstract In this work, we shall deal with the critical Sobolev isotropic Brownian flows on the sphere S d . Based on previous works by O. Raimond and LeJan and Raimond (see [O. Raimond, Ann. Inst. H. Poincare 35 (1999) 313–354] and [Y. LeJan, O. Raimond, Ann. of Prob. 30 (2002) 826–873], we prove that the associated flows are flows of homeomorphisms.
Boundedness and spectral invariance for standard pseudodifferential operators on anisotropically weighted LP-Sobolev spaces
1990
It is shown that pseudodifferential operators with symbols in the standard classes S ρ,δ m (ℝn) define bounded maps between large classes of weighted LP-Sobolev spaces where the growth of the weight does not have to be isotropic. Moreover, the spectrum is independent of the choice of the space.
2003
In this article we apply the S(M, g)–calculus of L. Hormander and, in particular, results concerning the spectral invariance of the algebra of operators of order zero in ℒ(L2(ℝn)) to study generators of Feller semigroups. The core of the article is the proof of the invertibility of λ Id + P for a strongly elliptic operator P in Ψ(M, g) and suitable weight functions M and metrics g. The proof depends highly on precise estimates of the remainder term in asymptotic expansions of the product symbol in Weyl and Kohn–Nirenberg quantization. Due to the Hille–Yosida–Ray theorem and a theorem of Courrege, the result concerning the invertibility of λ Id + P is applicable to obtain sufficient conditio…
On the regularity of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator on subdomains of ℝn
2010
AbstractWe establish the continuity of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator on W1,p(Ω), where Ω ⊂ ℝn is an arbitrary subdomain and 1 < p < ∞. Moreover, boundedness and continuity of the same operator is proved on the Triebel-Lizorkin spaces Fps,q (Ω) for 1 < p,q < ∞ and 0 < s < 1.
