The Latvian Student fraternity Fraternitas Lettica, accompanied by its guard of honour, arrives at the Riga Forest Cemetery to participate in the unveiling of the tombstone of its member, Alfrēds Būmanis, Latvian lawyer and professor of law at the Faculty of Economics and Law of the University of Latvia. The unveiling of the tombstone coincides with the collapse of the USSR and the restoration of Latvia's independence.

Abstract The discipline of archaeozoology holds the potential to considerably contribute to knowledge about the social behaviour of Neandertals. However, the translation of proposed subsistence strategies into predictions about Neandertal social organisation still remains a challenge. The paper discusses the current state of archaeozoological research with respect to Neandertal subsistence. It is concluded that the methodological research focus in archaeozoology has shifted from its original holistic perspective to intensified/specialised studies of particular taphonomic components. Ils sont présentés en distinguant les points de vue des sociétés de capital- risque et des entreprises formant l’alliance, et, agencés en fonction des deux cadres théoriques qu’ils emploient : les théories contractuelles et cognitives.
