Promoting sixth graders’ credibility evaluation of Web pages: An intervention study

Abstract This study investigated whether a teacher-led intervention program on online inquiry improved sixth graders' performance in a credibility evaluation task. Students (N = 342) were divided into two conditions, an intervention group (190 students) and a control group (152 students). The intervention program (21 × 45 min lessons) was implemented during a six-week course as a part of normal schoolwork. The program included explicit teaching of online inquiry skills: searching for information (3 lessons), evaluating credibility of information (3 lessons), and synthesizing information (3 lessons). An Abstract Generic Framework for Web Site Verification

In this paper, we present an abstract framework for Web site verification which improves the performance of a previous, rewriting-based Web verification methodology. The approximated framework is formalized as a source-to-source transformation which is parametric w.r.t. the chosen abstraction. This transformation significantly reduces the size of the Web documents by dropping or merging contents that do not influence the properties to be checked. The patterns of expression of cytokeratin polypeptides which are closely correlated to routes of differentiation of epithelial cells were studied in extramammary Paget's disease. Cytokeratins of uninvolved and involved epidermis were analyzed by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis of microdissected tissue preparations as well as by immunofluorescence microscopy using cytokeratin antibodies with different specificities. In uninvolved epidermis, cytokeratins Nos. 1, 5, 6, 10, 11, 14, and 16, characteristic of keratinocytes, were found. This case report describes a penile location of Paget's disease with delayed diagnosis due to initial outside treatment for several suspected benign dermatological disorders until surgery was eventually performed with confirmation of a Paget lesion of the penis. Diagnosis and therapy of this rare urologic disease are discussed and the literature is reviewed.

Strongly luminescent and highly soluble oligo(phenylenevinylene)s with five benzene rings and cyano groups in different positions of the terminal styrene units were prepared by means of Horner and Knoevenagel reactions. The substitution pattern − cyanide moieties on the vinyl or on the aromatic regions, together with the effect of auxochromic groups − has distinct influences on the electronic spectra, particularly on the fluorescence. Polar solvents induce red shifts and strongly reduce the fluorescence intensity of the vinyl-substituted oligomers.
