Non-cirrhotic portal vein thrombosis (PVT) in patients with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a rare complication, and the management has to be determined individually based on the extent and severity of the presentation. We report on a 37-year-old male patient with non-cirrhotic chronic PVT related to a severe thrombophilia, comprising APS, antithrombin-, factor V- and factor X-deficiency. Abstract Background Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) has proven clinical efcacy as rescue therapy for cirrhotic patients with acute portal hypertensive bleeding who fail endoscopic treatment. Aims To investigate predictive factors of 6-week and 1-year mortality in patients undergoing salvage TIPS for refractory portal hypertensive bleeding. A 20 year old man presented with severe ascites and malnutrition due to Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) with portal vein (PV), and splenic and mesenteric vein (SMV) thrombosis in the proximal 3 cm. He had received regular and more frequent paracenteses of up to 17 litres each for eight months. He had a poor BCS prognostic index of 8.41 (table 1). Aim After the revolution in the surgery of gallbladder stones represented by the laparoscopic cholecystectomy, we tried a new technique that further maximize the aesthetic results and that at the same time is of easy learning for young surgeons. Patients and methods From January 2011 to December 2012 we performed at our department 320 cholecystectomy: 27 in laparotomy and 293 in laparoscopy. Of these, 88 underwent to Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS), namely the Single Incision Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (SILC), in recruited patients aged between 19-65 years; 56 patients were females and 32 were males. Abstract Background/Aims : Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is a technically challenging but feasible treatment for Budd–Chiari syndrome (BCS). However, information about the outcome, particularly in patients with liver failure, is scarce. We report our experience of TIPS for BCS. Methods : Fifteen patients with BCS underwent TIPS. Eight had hepatic failure and seven underwent TIPS for BCS uncontrolled by medical treatment. Results : Fourteen out of 15 had successful TIPS placement. This review summarizes the different tools and concepts that are commonly applied in air quality monitoring. The monitoring of atmosphere is extremely important as the air quality is an important problem for large communities. Main requirements for analytical devices used for monitoring include a long period of autonomic operation and portability. These instruments, however, are often characterized by poor analytical performance. Monitoring networks are the most common tools used for monitoring, so large-scale monitoring programmes are summarized here. Vengono così giustificate come vie specifiche che consentono la comprensione degli aspetti singolari delle persone che hanno parte ai mondi della nostra vita. È una prospettiva critica rispetto alla cultura che sembra oggi prevalente e che vede invece nelle emozioni quasi esclusivamente il loro aspetto espressivo.
