Effects of Different Test Setups on the Experimental Tensile Behaviour of Basalt Fibre Bidirectional Grids for FRCM Composites
2020
Fibre-reinforced cementitious matrix (FRCM) composites have been effectively used during the last ten years for the strengthening of existing concrete and masonry structures. These composite materials are made of medium- and high-strength fibre meshes embedded in inorganic matrices. Synthetic fibres are the ones that are currently the most used
Experimental investigation of effect of printing direction and surface roughness on the mechanical properties of AlSi10Mg-alloy produced by selective…
2021
The additive manufacturing has initially gained popularity for production of non-loadbearing parts and components or in the fields where the material strength and ductility are less important such as modelling and rapid prototyping. But as the technology develops, availability of metal additive manufacturing naturally dictates the desire to use the produced components in load-bearing parts. This requires not-only a thorough documentation on the mechanical properties but also additional and independent research to learn the expected level of variation of the mechanical properties and what factors affect them. The presented paper investigates strength, ductility, hardness, and microstructure …
Design and Implementation of Density Sensor for Liquids Using Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor
2022
In this paper, an optical fiber sensor based density sensor is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. The sensor is formed by fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor. The proposed sensor design is very simple and versatile for density measurements of liquids. The FBG strain sensor has one end mounted to a 3D printed rigid support, and the other end connected to a 3D manufactured clamp in this sensor design. A metal ball is suspended from this clamp by a non-stretchable cord. When it is completely immersed in liquid, the liquid buoyancy force acts on it. As a result, the strain in FBG varies depending on the force applied to the ball. This results in a wavelength shift in the FBG sensor. The pro…
Some Advantages of the Gyrotrons with Width Emitters
2020
The main trends in gyrotron development are escalation of the radiated power and increasing the frequency of coherent radiation. For both trends it is beneficial to develop gyrotrons with wide emitters because this allows one to use cryomagnets with smaller inner bore sizes. For analyzing and optimizing the operation of gyrotrons with wide emitters it is proposed to represent such emitters as a superposition of thin rings and analyze the properties of electron beams emitted by each of these rings. The analysis of electron beam properties, for electron optical systems with different emitters is presented. The possibility to reduce velocity spread by anode profiling is discussed. The dynamics…
Model network architectures in vitro on extracellular recording systems using microcontact printing
2001
A PDMS stamp is used to transfer a synthetic peptide in a given pattern to any suitable surface. Using this method two-dimensional neuronal model networks could be formed on glass substrates as well as on electronic devices and adjusted to the given microelectronic structure. The present work focuses on the mechanism of neurite guidance under simplified in vitro conditions, using in vitro guidance cues and outline the incorporation of these interfacial methods into microelectronic sensor devices.
Inkjet Printable ZnO/PEDOT:PSS Heterojunction for Thin Flexible Semi-Transparent Optoelectronic Sensors
2020
International audience; Flexible sensors play an increasing role in printed electronics and are of interest for optoelectronic applications in flexible robotics and industrial automation. Thus, we have investigated the hybrid inorganic-organic junction between ZnO and PEDOT:PSS (poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate). A thin ITO (indium tin oxide) layer on PET (polyethylene terephthalate) foils was used as substrate electrode. ZnO was deposited from a nanoparticle (NP) suspension by electrophoretic deposition. For comparison, we have used three different methods for the deposition of PEDOT:PSS, namely (i) drop casting, (ii) dip-coating, (iii) inkjet printing. For the result…
Preparation of Highly Porous Carbonous Electrodes by Selective Laser Sintering
2019
Selective laser sintering (SLS) 3D printing was utilized to fabricate highly porous carbonous electrodes. The electrodes were prepared by using a mixture of fine graphite powder and either polyamide-12, polystyrene, or polyurethane polymer powder as SLS printing material. During the printing process the graphite powder was dispersed uniformly on the supporting polymer matrix. Graphite’s concentration in the mixture was varied between 5 and 40 wt % to find the correlation between the carbon content and conductivity. The graphite concentration, polymer matrix, and printing conditions all had an impact on the final conductivity. Due to the SLS printing technique, all the 3D printed electrodes …
An aging evaluation of the bearing performances of glass fiber composite laminate in salt spray fog environment
2019
The aim of the present paper is to assess the bearing performance evolution of pinned, glass-composite laminates due to environmental aging in salt-spray fog tests. Glass fibers/epoxy pinned laminates were exposed for up to 60 days in salt-spraying, foggy environmental conditions (according to ASTM B117 standard). In order to evaluate the relationship between mechanical failure mode and joint stability over increasing aging time, different single lap joints, measured by the changing hole diameter (D), laminate width (W) and hole free edge distance (E), were characterized at varying aging steps. Based on this approach, the property-structure relationship of glass-fibers/epoxy laminates was a…
