Based on Kurt Lewin’s Action Research theory, the paper focuses on an Action Research project issued in Southern Italy, in the disadvantaged suburb of Palermo (Sicily), called Z.E.N., sadly famous as a dangerous and “criminogenic” urban slum, in order to stimulate social participation and to develop social change. The principal goal was the empowerment of ordinary inhabitants, obtaining their collaboration through participation, giving them acquisition of knowledge for a real social change.

L’uso della metafora è stata una modalità di rappresentare in simboli alcune funzioni dell’inconscio in psicanalisi. Tale uso sembra essersi un po’ perso, per la maggiore attenzione che le scienze, soprattutto l’infant research, hanno riposto sul funzionamento del bambino e sul funzionamento psico-fisiologico più in generale dell’uomo. In realtà, a mio avviso, il riprendere l’uso della metafora, ed in particolar modo i simboli, non è in contraddizione con l’acquisizione delle nuove conoscenze scientifiche. Cognitive assessment of OCD patients: Neurovr vs neuropsychological test

This study aimed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Neuro- Virtual Reality as tool for the neuropsychological assessment in OCD patients. We used the neuropsychological battery and a virtual version of the Multiple Errand Test (V-MET), developed using the NeuroVR software, in order to evaluate the executive functions, the ability to plan ahead on complex problem solving tasks in daily life in 30 obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) patients and 30 healthy controls. The review summarises current evidence on the cognitive mechanisms for the integration of spatial and temporal representations and of common brain structures to process the where and when of stimuli. Psychophysical experiments document the presence of spatially localised distortions of sub-second time intervals and suggest that visual events are timed by neural mechanisms that are spatially selective. On the other hand, experiments with supra-second intervals suggest that time could be represented on a mental time-line ordered from left-to-right, similar to what is reported for other ordered quantities, such as numbers. In this paper, we propose a simple task for eliciting attitudes toward risky choice, the Sabater-Grande and Georgantzís (SGG) lottery-panel task, which consists in a series of lotteries constructed to compensate riskier options with higher risk-return trade-offs. Using Principal Component Analysis technique, we show that the SGG lotterypanel task is capable of capturing two dimensions of individual risky decision making: subjects’ average willingness to choose risky projects and their sensitivity towards variations in the return to risk. En el siguiente texto pretendemos mostrar cómo el fundamento de la teoría filosófica del pensador francés Alain Badiou tiene origen en su reflexión acerca de su práctica política iniciada a partir de los acontecimientos de mayo del 68 y que, tal y como reconocerá el propio Badiou en años posteriores, consistió en un recomienzo de la Idea de comunismo bajo la secuencia maoísta. De esta manera argumentaremos cómo para realizar esta reflexión el filósofo francés se apoyó en sus lecturas tempranas, tratando de sintetizar la teoría de causalidad estructural althusseriana, la teoría subjetiva lacaniana y la teoría dialéctica maoísta.
