Oligophenyls with Multiple Disulfide Bridges as Higher Homologues of Dibenzo[c,e][1,2]dithiin: Synthesis and Application in Lithium-Ion Batteries.

2020

Abstract Higher homologues of dibenzo[c,e][1,2]dithiin were synthesized from oligophenyls bearing multiple methylthio groups. Single‐crystal X‐ray analyses revealed their nonplanar structures and helical enantiomers of higher meta‐congener 6. Such dibenzo[1,2]dithiin homologues are demonstrated to be applicable to lithium‐ion batteries as cathode, displaying a high capacity of 118 mAh g−1 at a current density of 50 mA g−1.

Recovery of aliphatic low-molecular-mass carboxylic acids from hardwood kraft black liquor

2015

Abstract During alkaline pulping of wood, substantial amounts of carbohydrates-derived aliphatic carboxylic acids (formic and acetic acids together with various hydroxy acids) are formed and dissolved into the cooking liquor (“black liquor”). These acids with low heating values are considered to be potential feedstocks for the chemical industry but, due to many factors, their straightforward recovery as free acids from black liquor (pH 13–14) is difficult. In this paper, we outlined the partial recovery of volatile formic and acetic acids from the acidified birch ( Betula pendula ) kraft black liquor (pH approximately 2.5) by distillation, and the partial recovery of significant low-molecul…

Towards Translational ImmunoPET/MR Imaging of Invasive Pulmonary Aspergillosis: The Humanised Monoclonal Antibody JF5 Detects Aspergillus Lung Infect…

2017

Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) is a life-threatening lung disease of hematological malignancy or bone marrow transplant patients caused by the ubiquitous environmental fungus Aspergillus fumigatus. Current diagnostic tests for the disease lack sensitivity as well as specificity, and culture of the fungus from invasive lung biopsy, considered the gold standard for IPA detection, is slow and often not possible in critically ill patients. In a previous study, we reported the development of a novel non-invasive procedure for IPA diagnosis based on antibody-guided positron emission tomography and magnetic resonance imaging (immunoPET/MRI) using a [64Cu] DOTA-labeled mouse monoclonal anti…

Minimal information for studies of extracellular vesicles 2018 (MISEV2018):a position statement of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicl…

2018

The last decade has seen a sharp increase in the number of scientific publications describing physiological and pathological functions of extracellular vesicles (EVs), a collective term covering various subtypes of cell-released, membranous structures, called exosomes, microvesicles, microparticles, ectosomes, oncosomes, apoptotic bodies, and many other names. However, specific issues arise when working with these entities, whose size and amount often make them difficult to obtain as relatively pure preparations, and to characterize properly. The International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV) proposed Minimal Information for Studies of Extracellular Vesicles ("MISEV") guidelines fo…

(R)-(−)-Quinuclidin-3-ol

2013

The structure of the title compound [alternatively called (R)-(−)-1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]octan-3-ol], C7H13NO, at 100 K has hexagonal (P61) symmetry. The structure shows a twist along the C—N pseudo-threefold axis. In the crystal, molecules are linkedviaO—H...N hydrogen bonds, forming infinite chains along thec-axis direction. The crystal studied was twinned by merohedry (twin law: 010, 100, 00-1; population: 0.925:0.075)

2021

Background: The health-related challenges caused by the virus and the implications of the policies implemented to fight against it further cause psychological and socio-economic consequences that could threaten the well-being of the people. Objective: This study has been carried out to identify people's psychosoical reactions toward COVID-19. Method: Semi-structured interviews as a qualitative research method were used to collect data from 20 people across three countries, and content analysis was applied to interpret the data. Results: Overall, the results indicated that COVID-19 has had negative consequences on psychological well-being of the general population. COVID-19 has forced people…

Enhancing social and health care educators’ competence in digital pedagogy: A pilot study of educational intervention

2021

The purpose of this pilot study was to explore connection of an educational intervention on the competence of health care educators and educator candidates (n=11) in digital pedagogy as a part of national TerOpe project. An educational intervention, Basics of Digital Pedagogy was developed by the TerOpe project’s experts. The participating educators and educator candidates of the educational intervention were recruited from the universities and university of applied sciences, which were involved in TerOpe project. All the participants of the educational interventions were invited to take part in this study. The educational intervention was conducted during spring 2019. Pre- and post-tests w…
