Quadrupole ion traps are modern and versatile research tools used in mass spectrometers, in atomic frequency and time standards, in trapped ion quantum computing research, and for trapping anti-hydrogen ions at CERN. Phytophthora Root and Collar Rot of Paulownia, a New Disease for Europe

Paulownia species are fast growing trees native to China, which are being grown in managed plantings in several European countries for the production of wood and biomasses. In 2018, wilting, stunting, leaf yellowing, and collapse, as a consequence of root and crown rot, were observed in around 40% of trees of a 2-year-old planting of Paulownia elongata × P. fortunei in Calabria (Southern Italy). Two species of Phytophthora were consistently recovered from roots, basal stem bark, and rhizosphere soil of symptomatic trees and were identified as Ph. nicotianae and Ph. palmivora on the basis of both morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis of rDNA ITS sequences. Professor Pauls Žibeiks usually is mentioned as professor of Old Testament. In my memories P. Žibeiks takes place of the professor of ancient languages, which he taught in the theological seminary. During the period of time 1987-1992 I was in close touch with the professor, first being his student in his classes of ancient languages in the seminary rooms in Jāņa street, and after, visiting him in Bauska with certain regularity. Here, professor's Pauls Žibeiks teaching method is briefly considered in context of language teaching methods in the Rīga Domskola, the Theological faculty of University of Latvia and the Lutheran theological seminary.

La commedia elegiaca e la tragedia latina del XII e XIII secolo mostrano una larga e varia ricchezza di caratteristiche, temi, soggetti e tipologie letterarie: uso del distico elegiaco, "imitatio" ovidiana, preponderanza della tematica amorosa, compresenza di narrazione e dialogo, e così via.
