Políticas públicas de lectura e investigación. El diseño del Plan Valenciano de Lectura

2017

Pathways to higher education for first and second generation immigrants in France, Switzerland and Canada: how educational tracks and aspirations mat…

2014

Despite their different histories as countries of immigration, Switzerland, France and Canada all have a sizeable immigrant population, some of which do experience obstacles in their educational and professional careers. However, both access rates of immigrant students as well as institutional routes to higher education vary remarkably between the three countries. On the one hand, France and Switzerland offer both academic and vocational routes to higher education, whereas academic routes prevail in Canada. On the other hand, immigrant students are underrepresented in Swiss and French higher education, while they generally seem to be much more successful in Canada. In this paper we wish to …

Environmental Voluntary Programs in the Transport Industry in the Post-COVID Situation: The French Experience

2022

This study investigates the drivers impacting the success of the environmental voluntary program recently launched in France. This program, titled EVE (Engagements Volontaires pour l’Environnement), aims to improve transport operators’ efficiency and to reduce CO2 emissions in the environment. Due to the complexity of the context in which the EVE program is implemented, we used a System Dynamics (SD) approach. This study offers multiple contributions. First, studying the dynamic interdependences of voluntary programs aimed at reducing carbon emissions in the transport industry can help policymakers in designing successful policies. In addition, the study can help transport operators engaged…

Acquiescence to opacity

2017

Opacity may affect both the means used to implement policies and the real objectives that they pursue. Our concern with opacity is limited to the cases when it is the result of obfuscation. that is, of some effort on the part of governments or other public bodies (central banks or international organisations) to hide or misrepresent their choices. In the literature concerned with accounting for inefficient policies, there are now models in which opacity plays no significant role. This chapter provides a number of mechanisms that account for or lead to the phenomenon the authors are interested in, that is, voters preferring a policy to be opaque rather than transparent. It then discusses two…

Let's End HepC: modelling public health epidemiological policies applied to Hepatitis C in Spain

2022

Background: The WHO has defined international targets toward the elimination of hepatitis C by 2030. Most countries cannot be on track to achieve this goal unless many challenges are surpassed. The Let's End HepC (LEHC) tool aims to contribute to the control of hepatitis C. The innovation of this tool combines the modelling of public health policies (PHP) focused on hepatitis C with epidemiological modelling of the disease, obtaining a unique result that allows to forecast the impact of policy outcomes. The model was applied to several countries, including Spain. Methods: To address the stated objective, we applied the “Adaptive Conjoint Analysis” for PHP decision-making and Markov Chains in…

Disclosure of duplicative studies: damned if you don't

2012

Duplicative publication requires duplicative editorializing. There are many forms of lesser redundancy such as unacknowledged secondary analyses of randomized clinical trials, fragmentation of studies with concurrent submission to various journals, and serial updating of observational studies. These practices result in publication bias. We have revised our instructions to authors to include disclosure of similar articles that are published, in press, or submitted to other journals to the editors upon submission.

Qualidade docente e eficácia escolar

2008
