Obesity and Its Impact Upon Quality of Life

2014

Obesity may have a negative effect on quality of life (QOL) and is an important outcome in the treatment of obesity. In this chapter we discuss the concept of QOL; the measurement of QOL; the mechanisms by which obesity may influence the physical, social, mental, and sexual aspects of QOL; and the effects of weight loss interventions on QOL. Finally, we discuss how health professionals may use QOL measures to improve the quality of clinical practice.

Abstract Background International studies provide an overview of socio-demographic characteristics associated with loneliness among older adults, but few studies distinguished between emotional and social loneliness. This study examined socio-demographic characteristics associated with emotional and social loneliness. The gap between behavioral risk status and willingness to change behavior among healthcare professionals

Aims: This study explored behavioral health risk factors among healthcare professionals and investigated the at-risk persons’ satisfaction with their health habits and ongoing change attempts. Methods: The study was based on a cross-sectional web-based survey directed at the nurses and physicians ( N = 1233) in Finnish healthcare. Obesity, low physical activity, smoking, and risky alcohol drinking were used as behavioral health risk factors. Results: In all, 70% of the participants had at least one behavioral risk factor, and a significant number of at-risk persons were satisfied with their health habits and had no ongoing change process. Employers’ perceptions of young higher education graduates’ employability in Belarus

This paper explores the employability of young Higher Education (HE) graduates in Belarus, from the point of view of employers. Graduate employability can be defined by six items: starting a job; learning at work; performing work tasks; improving professional prospects; improving personal development; and developing entrepreneurial capacity. The FOSTERC database contains representative information on 261 employers in 2018 derived from an employer questionnaire. La formación profesional dual en España. Consideraciones sobre los centros que la implementan

El objetivo de este artículo es analizar el desarrollo de la formación profesional dual en España desde la perspectiva de los profesionales en los centros de formación profesional. A través de dos cuestionarios se recopilará información de la dirección de los centros y de los docentes responsables de implementar esta formación profesional. La muestra abarca todas las regiones y cubre gran parte de las áreas ocupacionales en las que se ha puesto en marcha. Los resultados muestran valoraciones negativas de los participantes y las diferencias entre regiones, sectores profesionales y tipos de centro.
