Risk profiles for re-profiling sovereign debt

Purpose – This paper aims to use a risk management approach for re-profiling of sovereign debt. It develops profiles that trade off expected cost of financing alternative debt structures against their risk. The risk profiles are particularly informative for countries facing sovereign debt crisis, as they allow us to identify, with high probability, debt unsustainability. Risk profiles for two eurozone countries with excessive debt, Cyprus and Italy, were developed. In addition, risk profiles were developed for a proposal to impose debt sanctions in the Ukrainian crisis and it was shown that the financial impact could be substantial. The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has recently established in Rel. 14 a network-assisted resource allocation scheme for vehicular broadcast communications. Such novel paradigm is known as vehicle--to--vehicle (V2V) \textit{mode-3} and consists in eNodeBs engaging only in the distribution of sidelink subchannels among vehicles in coverage. Thereupon, without further intervention of the former, vehicles will broadcast their respective signals directly to their counterparts. Efficient Analysis and Synthesis Using a New Factorization of the Gabor Frame Matrix

In this paper, we consider the case in which one needs to carry out Gabor analysis and synthesis on large signals using a short support analysis window and its corresponding, possibly longer canonical dual window, respectively. In this asymmetric context, we propose a novel factorization of the Gabor frame operator that exploits its strong and well-known structure and leads to a computational cost for synthesis, which is comparable to the one needed for short support analysis. Design of Multiresolution Operators Using Statistical Learning Tools: Application to Compression of Signals

Using multiresolution based on Harten's framework [J. Appl. Numer. Math., 12 (1993), pp. 153---192.] we introduce an alternative to construct a prediction operator using Learning statistical theory. This integrates two ideas: generalized wavelets and learning methods, and opens several possibilities in the compressed signal context. We obtain theoretical results which prove that this type of schemes (LMR schemes) are equal to or better than the classical schemes. Finally, we compare traditional methods with the algorithm that we present in this paper.

Sponges are sessile filter feeders that, among the metazoans, evolved first on Earth. In the two classes of the siliceous sponges (the Demospongiae and the Hexactinellida), the complex filigreed body is stabilized by an inorganic skeleton composed of amorphous silica providing them a distinct body shape and plan. It is proposed that the key innovation that allowed the earliest metazoans to form larger specimens was the enzyme silicatein. This enzyme is crucial for the formation of the siliceous skeleton.
