Heavy vs Light Load Single-Joint Exercise Performance with Different Rest Intervals
2017
Abstract The aim of the study was to compare the effect of three distinct rest period lengths between sets of upper body single-joint exercise with different load zones and volume designed for either endurance or hypertrophy (50% or 80% of 1-RM). Sixteen trained men (20.75 ± 2.54 years; 76.35 ± 5.03 kg; 176.75 ± 3.33 cm, 24.53 ± 1.47 kg/m2) performed a test and retest of 1-RM on non-consecutive days. Forty-eight hours after load testing, the participants were randomly assigned to six sessions consisting of four sets of the triceps pull-down, combining different intensities with distinct rest periods between sets. The shorter 1 minute rest promoted a significant reduction in the total repeti…

Introduction: In the last 30 years the Spanish NHS has evolved from a tightly centralized structure to seventeen autonomous regional health systems. As a result a number of benefits have been obtained but also important side-effects such as unjustified variation in clinical practice and a substantial loss of equity. The strategies are based on scientific evidence or consensus and they have been agreed on by all the regions. However, the degre…

2016
Objective: To understand affectivity and health promotion at school through the construction of meanings by the teachers. Methods: The present exploratory and descriptive study was conducted based on a qualitative approach using affective maps and semi-structured interviews as tools for data collection. The interviews aimed to investigate which health promoting actions each teacher has participated in, their perceptions regarding them, which affects emerge when carrying out the actions suggested by the school and how …
