Glow-worms in the night. Street prostitutions and prevention projects - Traditionaly, sexual-work conflict and street partnership have been studied separately. This study examined the impact of sexual-work conflict and health. The results show that there are a significant relationship between sexual-work conflict and health especially with inter-role conflict. The scale have been applied to a Sicilian sample of 114 prostitutes in a social project of prevention. Key words: Sexual-work conflict, helath, health belief, partnership.

The rodents of the Pirro Nord fauna (Foggia, Southern Italy)

The rodent fauna of various fissure fillings of the Pirro Nord karstic complex are examined here. They have been collected during several field caingns starting from the 70’s until 2006 and are here examined in a comprehensive matter. Hundreds of specimens of arvicolids, murids and, in much lower amount, Glirids have been recovered from several of these fissures. They belong to the species Allophaiomys ex gr. ruffoi, Myodes sp. Apodemus flavicollis and Muscardinus sp.

AbstractThe two Caribbean states, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, have experienced similar natural forces since the 18th century, including hurricanes and earthquakes. Although, both countries seem to be two of the most prone of all Latin American and Caribbean countries to natural hazard events, historically, Haiti tends to be more vulnerable to natural forces. The purpose of this article is to understand to what extent geohazards shape demographic changes. Glial Protection Against Neuronal Damage

Glial homeostatic mechanisms are involved in neuronal protection during the early phase of cerebral ischemia. These protective effects include, among others, glutamate uptake and the regulation of pH in the extracellular space of the brain. Uptake of glutamate goes along with glial swelling, as does the elimination of protons from the glial cytosol. Five transport systems interact in order to maintain a normal intra- and extracellular pH in the brain.

Fiscal multipliers and job-protection regulation

Abstract We study, both theoretically and empirically, how labor market regulation affects fiscal multipliers. We focus on the stringency of employment protection legislation, a prominent source of rigidity in European labor markets. First, using a small-open economy model that features labor-market search-and-matching frictions and nominal rigidities, we show that an increase in government spending has larger output effects when firing costs are lower. The importance of layoff costs for the public spending multiplier is larger in the absence of exchange rate adjustment and in a recession.
