Analysis of local scour downstream of bed sills: preliminary results of an experimental work

Bed sills are often used to limit bed degradation, to control bed erosion around bridge piers or downstream stilling basins of dams. In this paper, the local scour that takes place downstream of the bed sill, in addition to the general erosion process, is examined. The data collected during experimental work are used to analyse the applicability of the relationship found in the literature and to define the relation between the maximum scour depth and the flow rate.

Abstract Electrochemical processes are considered very effective methods for the treatment of wastewater contaminated by organics resistant to conventional biological processes and various inorganic pollutants. Methods Using a retrospective analysis of pooled anonymized data, we explored the ethics appraisal procedure on proposals submitted to Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) during the entire Horizon 2020 program period (N = 79,670). Entanglement robustness via spatial deformation of identical particle wave functions

We address the problem of entanglement protection against surrounding noise by a procedure suitably exploiting spatial indistinguishability of identical subsystems. To this purpose, we take two initially separated and entangled identical qubits interacting with two independent noisy environments. Three typical models of environments are considered: amplitude damping channel, phase damping channel and depolarizing channel. The present research was conducted within the framework of the EURopean micronutrient RECommendations Aligned project. In order to identify the best practice in assessing nutrient intakes, a search strategy for collecting data from national food consumption surveys/studies in Europe was developed. Systematic literature searches were carried out on twenty-eight European and the four European Free Trade Association countries. A questionnaire was also sent to two to five experts in each country.
