Anxiety and self-esteem as mediators of the relation between family communication and indecisiveness in adolescence

Abstract In this study, we explored the unique and common contributions of anxiety, self-esteem, and family communication on indecisiveness among adolescents. Three hundred and fifty pupils from 13 to 16 years of age completed selfreport measures on indecisiveness, quality of family communication, trait anxiety, and self-esteem. The findings in this study showed that students’ indecisiveness is predicted by family communication mediated by anxiety and self-esteem. These results have important implications for practice as it stresses the importance of anxiety and self-esteem. The construction of an attachment bond in children exposed to domestic violence. The structuring of the attachment bond may be influenced by specific characteristics related to individuals and context. The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of attachment in a family unit composed of one mother and four children, who were living in a Safe House for victims fleeing from domestic violence. Attachment was evaluated in the mother through administration of the Adult Attachment Interview (George, Kaplan, & Main, 1985) and in the children through administration of the Separation Anxiety Test (Attili, 2001). Phenomenology and psychology are two fundamental disciplines of culture in the 20th century. The phenomenology of Husserl was assimilated by Sartre at the beginning of the century, until the publication of L’être et le néant (1943). In fact, studies of Sartre’s works demonstrate that his philosophy of existence is closely linked to transcendental phenomenology and psychology. En esta Tesis doctoral llevo a cabo un estudio del modo cómo desde la Democracia Deliberativa se ha abordado el problema de la relación entre la razón pública y las razones no públicas en el marco de nuestras sociedades pluralistas. En la Primera Parte analizo el estado de la cuestión de esta teoría de la democracia, con el fin de determinar su desarrollo hasta hoy. Nel 1881, quando Giuseppe Sergi pubblica il volume sulla Teoria fisiologica della percezione , sono passati poco più di dieci anni dalla comparsa de La psicologia come scienza positiva di Roberto Ardigò (edita a Mantova nel 1870). Proprio il 1881 rappresenta il primo anno di insegnamento per il cin- quantatreenne Ardigò, come professore straordinario di Storia della fi losofi a nell’Università di Padova, grazie alla nomina del Ministro Guido Baccelli. Il quarantenne Sergi, invece, si trova già da un anno presso l’Università di Bolo- gna come docente di Antropologia.

He lived between the late 15th and early 16th centuries, and is one of the most significant figures in the Italian philosophy of the Renaissance. His main work De immortalitate animae, published in 1516, witnesses the “rebirth” of human sciences in the wake of the Aristotelian tradition established at the University of Padua. Carlo Cattaneo belongs to the cultural heritage of Italian history of the first half of the nineteenth century. He is commonly remembered as the promoter of the journal «The Polytechnic» and of the political theory of the confederate and Ghibelline state. Without detracting from these aspects of his thought, it should be remembered that Carlo Cattaneo developed the psychology of the associated minds, as it is found not only in the five memoirs presented between 1859 and 1866 at the headquarters of the Istituto Lombardo di Scienze Lettere e Arti, but also in the lessons he held from 1852 to 1865 at the Lugano high school.
