Endosymbiont communities in Bemisia tabaci: a metagenomic approach
2014
3d mesh denoising using normal based myriad filter
2011
We propose a new filtering scheme for denoising of 3D objects which are represented by a triangular mesh. This scheme consists on applying myriad filter to face normals and then updating the vertices positions in order to preserve the original shape of the object. The choice of the Myriad is justified by the assumption of Cauchy distributed angles between surface normals. This filter improves the performance of a normal-based method which is adapted to the underlying mesh structure. To evaluate these methods of filtering, we use three error metrics. The first is based on the vertices, the second is based on the normals and the third is based on Hausdorff distance. Experimental results demon…
AuX3-Mediated Selective Head-to-Head Dimerization of Difluoropropargyl Amides
2009
A dimerization of difluoropropargyl amides by reaction with gold(III) halides is described. A reductive elimination of a divinylgold species can be invoked to rationalize its formation. Initial studies of the unusual reactivity of these 1,4-dihalo-1,3-dienes have been performed.
Phytochemical Profile and Antioxidant, Antiproliferative, and Antimicrobial Properties of Rubus idaeus Seed Powder
2022
In the context of the contemporary research on sustainable development and circular economy, the quest for effective strategies aimed at revaluation of waste and by-products generated in industrial and agricultural production becomes important. In this work, an ethanolic extract from red raspberry (Rubus idaeus) seed waste (WRSP) was evaluated for its phytochemical composition and functional properties in term of antioxidative, antiproliferative, and antimicrobial activities. Chemical composition of the extract was determined by both HPLC-ESI-MS/MS and spectrophotometric methods. Phytochemical analysis revealed that flavan-3-ols and flavonols were the major phenolic compounds contained in W…
Psychodynamic Motivation and Training program (PMT) for the secondary prevention in patients with stable coronary heart disease: study protocol for a…
2013
Background Nonpharmacological secondary prevention of coronary heart disease is considered a safe and effective measure to substantially reduce mortality. Despite the effectiveness of lifestyle changes, the compliance rate of patients is very low mainly due to psychosocial barriers. Psychotherapeutic approaches that address how persons think about themselves and their behaviors appear to have a significant potential for improving health behavior. Methods/design Against this background, our study aims to examine the feasibility and effects of a Psychodynamic Motivation and Training program (PMT) as compared to one session of advice in exercise training (EX) and treatment as usual (TAU). For …
Effects of the herbicides Benzoylpropethyl and flampropisopropyl on rat liver mitochondria : an alteration in membrane fluidity ?
1984
Abstract The action of the herbicides benzoylpropethyl and flampropisopropyl, and the corresponding unesterified acids was studied in rat liver mitochondria. The herbicides were found to (a) inhibit the mitochondrial electron transfer in complex III or at the level of ubiquinone (I50 of 4 nmol mg protein−1 for flampropisopropyl and 18 for benzoylpropethyl with succinate as a substrate); (b) have an additional (however less sensitive) site of inhibition near succinate dehydrogenase; and (c) interfere with energy transfer. Sensitivity was increased 2- (benzoylpropethyl) and 3.5-fold (flampropisopropyl) as the rats age increased from 12–13 weeks to 23–26 weeks. The free acids were far less eff…
Nitrate tolerance as a model of vascular dysfunction: Roles for mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase and mitochondrial oxidative stress
2008
Organic nitrates are a group of very effective anti-ischemic drugs. They are used for the treatment of patients with stable angina, acute myocardial infarction and chronic congestive heart failure. A major therapeutic limitation inherent to organic nitrates is the development of tolerance, which occurs during chronic treatment with these agents. The mechanisms underlying nitrate tolerance remain incompletely defined and are likely multifactorial. One mechanism seems to be a diminished bioconversion of nitroglycerin, another seems to be the induction of vascular oxidative stress, and a third may include neurohumoral adaptations. Recent studies have revealed that mitochondrial reactive oxygen…
