Phylogenomics of species from four genera of New World monkeys by flow sorting and reciprocal chromosome painting

2007

Abstract Background The taxonomic and phylogenetic relationships of New World monkeys (Platyrrhini) are difficult to distinguish on the basis of morphology and because diagnostic fossils are rare. Recently, molecular data have led to a radical revision of the traditional taxonomy and phylogeny of these primates. Here we examine new hypotheses of platyrrhine evolutionary relationships by reciprocal chromosome painting after chromosome flow sorting of species belonging to four genera of platyrrhines included in the Cebidae family: Callithrix argentata (silvered-marmoset), Cebuella pygmaea (pygmy marmoset), Callimico goeldii (Goeldi's marmoset) and Saimiri sciureus (squirrel monkey). This is t…

Skin involvement as the first manifestation of breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma

2016

Breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) is a newly described clinical and pathologic entity that typically presents as seroma in the fibrous scar around the implant. Less frequently, it presents as a solid peri-implant mass, and there have been no reports to date of cutaneous lesions as the presenting manifestation. We report the case of a 56-year-old woman with a history of bilateral breast reconstruction following breast cancer of the right breast who consulted with several papules on the right breast suggestive of metastasis. Histopathology showed a proliferation of large epithelioid lymphocytes with highly pleomorphic cells and nuclei. The neoplastic cells were C…

Endometrial stromal sarcomas: immunohistochemical, electron microscopical and cytogenetic findings in two cases.

1999

Uterine sarcomas are approximately 3% of all malignant uterine corpus tumours. Of these, the tumours that originate solely in the stromal elements of the uterine wall are infrequent and have not been well characterized cytogenetically. We report two cases of endometrial stromal sarcomas (ESS), one low grade and one high grade, diagnosed by conventional histology, immunocytochemistry, electron microscopy and cytogenetics. Morphologically clear-cut differential structures were seen at optical, immunohistochemical, and electron microscopic levels, permitting a clear differential diagnosis. The low-grade ESS expressed hormonal receptors and vimentin, whereas the high-grade ESS showed no hormone…

Semisynthesis of the Antiviral Abietane Diterpenoid Jiadifenoic Acid C from Callitrisic Acid (4-Epidehydroabietic Acid) Isolated from Sandarac Resin

2014

The semisynthesis of the antiviral abietane diterpenoid (+)-jiadifenoic acid C starting from the available methyl ester of callitrisic acid (4-epidehydroabietic acid) isolated from sandarac resin is reported. A protocol for the isolation of methyl callitrisate (methyl 4-epidehydroabietate) in gram quantities from sandarac resin is also described. Allylic C-17 oxygenation was introduced by regioselective dehydrogenation of the isopropyl group of methyl callitrisate with DDQ followed by selenium-catalyzed allylic oxidation. Ester hydrolysis afforded (+)-jiadifenoic acid C in 22% overall yield from methyl callitrisate. This semisynthetic route provides a convenient source of this anti-Coxsacki…

Stereoselective Synthesis of trans-4,5-Disubstituted Oxazolidin-2-ones by Intramolecular Conjugate Addition of N-p-Toluenesulfonyl Carbamates.

2003

p-Toluenesulfonyl carbamates (2a-d) were prepared starting from allylic alcohols (3), in which the double bond is conjugated with an electron withdrawing group. In the presence of a catalytic amount of DBU, an intramolecular cyclisation occurred, leading to trans-4,5-disubstituted oxazolidin-2-ones (1a-d) with total stereoselection, which can be precursors of syn-4-hydroxy-3-amino acids.

Hydroxamic Acid: An Underrated Moiety? Marrying Bioinorganic Chemistry and Polymer Science

2020

Even 150 years after their discovery, hydroxamic acids are mainly known as the starting material for the Lossen rearrangement in textbooks. However, hydroxamic acids feature a plethora of existing and potential applications ranging from medical purposes to materials science, based on their excellent complexation properties. This underrated functional moiety can undergo a broad variety of organic transformations and possesses unique coordination properties for a large variety of metal ions, for example, Fe(III), Zn(II), Mn(II), and Cr(III). This renders it ideal for biomedical applications in the field of metal-associated diseases or the inhibition of metalloenzymes, as well as for the separ…

New force field for GCMC simulations of D 2 /H 2 quantum sieving in pure silica zeolites

2020

International audience; We report a study on adsorption and coadsorption of H2 and D2 in FAU, MFI and CHA pure silica zeolites having different pore sizes and shapes. Adsorption capacities, selectivities, enthalpies and entropies are determined by combining experiments and GCMC simulations. We show that the force fields available in the literature cannot predict the adsorption equilibria below 77 K with sufficient accuracy. Here we propose a new force field adjusted by using our experimental data obtained for the pure silica MFI zeolite at 65 K and 77 K. With this new force field, it is possible to predict the adsorption and coadsorption equilibria on the three zeolite structures in a tempe…

Highly regio- and stereoselective iodocyclization of chiral 3-alkoxycarbonyl-4-propenyl-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-oxazolidines: a computational investigation

1999

The iodocyclization of allylic carbamates 3a and 3b proceeded with high regio- and stereoselection to give 2-oxobicyclo[4.3.0]nonane 5a as the major product. Both the regio- and diastereoselection of the reaction were investigated with the help of molecular mechanics and quantomechanical calculations. The energetic difference between the competing transition states TS-5a and TS-5b is in good agreement with the experimental results and from the calculated transition structures it appears that steric factors direct the discrimination.

On the rearrangement of some Z-arylhydrazones of 3-benzoyl-5-phenylisoxazoles into 2-aryl-4-phenacyl-2H-1,2,3-triazoles: a kinetic study of the subst…

2015

Abstract The rearrangement of eight new Z -arylhydrazones of 3-benzoyl-5-phenylisoxazoles ( 3d – k ) into the relevant 2-aryl-4-phenacyl-2 H -1,2,3-triazoles ( 4d – k ) in dioxane/water solution at different proton concentrations has been quantitatively studied in a wide temperature range (293–333 K). The data collected together with some our previous ones on compounds 3a – c have allowed a deep study of the substituent effects on the course of the rearrangement, thus increasing our knowledge on the Boulton–Katritzky reactions in isoxazole derivatives and on the temperature effects on free energy relationships.

A one-pot cascade to protoberberine alkaloids via Stevens rearrangement of nitrile-stabilized ammonium ylides.

2015

A facile one-pot synthesis of protoberberines from readily accessible 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-1-carbonitriles and 1,2-bis(bromomethyl)arenes is described. The reaction cascade comprises four consecutive transformations, all of which can be effected under a single set of conditions. Ten protoberberines, including the alkaloids pseudopalmatine and pseudoepiberberine, were prepared in yields up to 86% according to this strategy. No chromatographic purification of the products is required, and the route is devoid of any protecting group manipulations.
