The eCB [endoCB (cannabinoid)] system is being considered as a novel therapeutic target for immune disorders. Cytokines of the IL-12 (interleukin-12) family have essential functions in cell-mediated immunity. In the present study, we have addressed the mechanisms of action of the eCB AEA (anandamide) on the regulation of IL-12p40 in activated microglia/macrophages. We demonstrated that AEA can inhibit the expression of p35, p19 and p40 subunits, which form the biologically-active cytokines IL-12 and IL-23 in microglia stimulated with LPS (lipopolysaccharide)/IFNγ (interferon γ). Intelligence is a key psychological feature associated to emotion and perception. Listening to music is often linked to emotional experience and sensation seeking (SS), traits that have been shown overall negatively correlated with intelligence. In a sample of 53 musicians and 54 non-musicians, we assessed the use of music for experiencing strong emotions through the Music in Mood Regulation (MMR) and the intelligence quotient (IQ) by using the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale III (WAIS-III). We have analyzed the heat stress response in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae by determining mRNA levels and transcription rates for the whole transcriptome after a shift from 25uC to 37uC. Using an established mathematical algorithm, theoretical mRNA decay rates have also been calculated from the experimental data. We have verified the mathematical predictions for selected genes by determining their mRNA decay rates at different times during heat stress response using the regulatable tetO promoter. The mechanisms by which deregulated nuclear factor erythroid-2–related factor 2 (NRF2) and kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (KEAP1) signaling promote cellular proliferation and tumorigenesis are poorly understood. Using an integrated genomics and 13C-based targeted tracer fate association (TTFA) study, we found that NRF2 regulates miR-1 and miR-206 to direct carbon flux toward the pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) and the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, reprogramming glucose metabolism.
