Italian Association of Sleep Medicine (AIMS) position statement and guideline on the treatment of menopausal sleep disorders

Insomnia, vasomotor symptoms (VMS) and depression often co-occur after the menopause, with consequent health problems and reductions in quality of life. The aim of this position statement is to provide evidence-based advice on the management of postmenopausal sleep disorders derived from a systematic review of the literature. The latter yielded results on VMS, insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and restless leg syndrome (RLS). Overall, the studies show that menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) improves VMS, insomnia, and mood. Kvantitatīvā pētījuma rezultātā hipotēzes tiek galvenokārt apstiprinātas. Iegūtie dati raksturo fizisko un emocionālo pašsajūtu, attiecības ar līdzcilvēkiem un dzīvesveidu pēc aortas vārstuļa protezēšanas, kā arī baiļu ietekmi uz šiem rādītājiem. Purpose The Mucopolysaccharidosis Type I (MPS I) Registry is an international observational database that tracks the natural history and the outcomes of patients with MPS I. The Registry was a regulatory requirement following the approval of laronidase enzyme replacement therapy for MPS I in 2003. Diagnosis of papillary muscle rupture after acute myocardial infarction by transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography.

The sensitivity of transthoracic echocardiography to visualize the structural abnormality of papillary muscle rupture (PMR) after acute myocardial infarction can be anticipated to average about 50%; therefore, we evaluated five patients exhibiting the condition with both transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography. The use of the two imaging techniques resulted in the fact that no instance of PMR was missed. Using transthoracic echocardiography in two patients and transesophageal echocardiography in four, the ruptured papillary muscle was visualized directly. Abstract Background The Artificial Kidney Initiation in Kidney Injury (AKIKI) trial showed that a delayed renal replacement therapy (RRT) strategy for severe acute kidney injury (AKI) in critically ill patients was safe and associated with major reduction in RRT initiation compared with an early strategy. The five criteria which mandated RRT initiation in the delayed arm were: severe hyperkalemia, severe acidosis, acute pulmonary edema due to fluid overload resulting in severe hypoxemia, serum urea concentration > 40 mmol/l and oliguria/anuria > 72 h.
