De la patria (más) pequeña al mundo. Identidad nacional y socialismo español desde el País Valenciano (1931-1936)

2020

This article analyses the national discourse of Spanish socialism during the Second Republic and seeks to emphasise the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party’s identification with a Spanish national identity. Furthermore, by considering the case of the Valencian Region (País Valenciano), it points to ways in which that identity was expressed, showing the role of the local and regional spheres in the socialist interpretation of national identity. In this way, the Valencian example enables us to explore the situation “from below”, by studying political approaches, speeches, rites and practices in the militant press. The article argues that the national discourse of Spanish socialism found a solid…

The path of liberation. Women’s associationism and workers’ cultures in the Second Republic (1931-1936)

2021

Once again : testing for regional homogeneity

1987

. Summarizing the foregoing discussions in this journal on testing for regional homogeneity the present note shows that in the model of Zellner's seemingly unrelated regressions one test statistic may be used not only to test for overall homogeneity but also to examine for individual coefficient homogeneity. This aim is achieved by varying the linear restrictions in the test statistic according to different problems. To illustrate these tests regional consumption functions for the 11 Bundeslader (States) of the Federal Republic of Germany are used.

Synthesis and Antileukemic Activity of New 3-(5-Methylisoxazol-3-yl) and 3-(Pyrimidin-2-yl)-2-styrylquinazolin-4(3H)-ones.

2003

3-(3-Methylisoxazol-5-yl) and 3-(pyrimidin-2-yl)-2-styrylquinazolin-4(3H)-ones 8a–l and 9a,c–e,h–l were synthesized by refluxing in acetic acid the corresponding 2-methylquinazolinones 6 and 8 with the opportune benzoic aldehyde for 12 h. The synthesized styrylquinazolinones 8a–l and 9a,c–e,h–l were tested in vitro for their antileukemic activity against L-1210 (murine leukemia), K-562 (human chronic myelogenous leukemia) and HL-60 (human leukemia) cell lines showing in some cases good activity.

Zanim został ministrem: o kontaktach Ryszarda Zakrzewskiego z wywiadem PRL

2017

After the Second World War Ryszard Zakrzewski (1913–1994) was a well-known exile political and social activist in Great Britain. In the late 1940s he became one of the leaders of the Polish Socialist Party in emigration. He was also active in the Polish Ex-Combatants’ Association and the Federation of Poles in Great Britain. In 1956, the intelligence of the Polish People’s Republic got interested in his person. Over the next few years Zakrzewski maintained contacts with intelligence officers, employed as diplomats at the Polish Embassy in London. Despite the fact that he was not formally recruited, he provided information about activities of certain political groups on emigration, especiall…

Legal and Political Determinants of Implementation of the Principle of Subsidiarity in the Federal Republic of Germany

2015

It is not surprising that subsidiarity is very often discussed with autonomy and federation (equally multidimensional concepts, similarly discussed in science). It is clearly evident taking into account, for example, results of analysis of the key words (tags) in scientific publications. The European Union has significantly contributed in popularizing of the concept so it is no surprise that strongly linked with EU's problems has become a central point of the discussion of its organizational structure and internal relationships between forming elements. It is difficult to imagine analysis of the conditions for implementing of subsidiarity in Germany without prior presentation of the state p…

The Role of the Principle of Subsidiarity in the Third Sector in the Republic of Poland

2015

The principle of subsidiarity not only has formed many of provisions in the act on Public Benefit and Volunteer Work (particularly those related to social consultations and transferring of public tasks), but is also a directive forming the cooperative habits between the public and non-public sectors. This is a matter of great importance taking into account that the subsidiarity in Poland is not effectively implemented as it could be because of limited autonomy of the self–government and frequently occurring interference of the State. Unfortunately it results in limiting of ability to decide on the type and methods of performing tasks. In addition, financial resources usually are not suffici…
