Graded Poisson structures on the algebra of differential forms

1995

We study the graded Poisson structures defined on Ω(M), the graded algebra of differential forms on a smooth manifoldM, such that the exterior derivative is a Poisson derivation. We show that they are the odd Poisson structures previously studied by Koszul, that arise from Poisson structures onM. Analogously, we characterize all the graded symplectic forms on ΩM) for which the exterior derivative is a Hamiltomian graded vector field. Finally, we determine the topological obstructions to the possibility of obtaining all odd symplectic forms with this property as the image by the pullback of an automorphism of Ω(M) of a graded symplectic form of degree 1 with respect to which the exterior der…

Automorphisms of the semigroup of endomorphisms of free associative algebras

2005

Let $A=A(x_{1},...,x_{n})$ be a free associative algebra in $\mathcal{A}$ freely generated over $K$ by a set $X=\{x_{1},...,x_{n}\}$, $End A$ be the semigroup of endomorphisms of $A$, and $Aut End A$ be the group of automorphisms of the semigroup $End A$. We investigate the structure of the groups $Aut End A$ and $Aut \mathcal{A}^{\circ}$, where $\mathcal{A}^{\circ}$ is the category of finitely generated free algebras from $\mathcal{A}$. We prove that the group $Aut End A$ is generated by semi-inner and mirror automorphisms of $End F$ and the group $Aut \mathcal{A}^{\circ}$ is generated by semi-inner and mirror automorphisms of the category $\mathcal{A}^{\circ}$. This result solves an open …

Anterior Capsule Opening Contraction and Late Intraocular Lens Dislocation after Cataract Surgery in Patients with Weak or Partially Absent Zonular S…

2021

Background and Objectives: To evaluate anterior capsule opening (ACO) contraction and late intraocular lens (IOL) dislocation after cataract surgery in patients with weak or partially absent zonular support and assess methods of reducing these complications. Materials and Methods: For this prospective study, we enlisted cataract surgery patients in our hospital with preoperative diagnoses of weak zonules. All patients received phacoemulsification surgery with implantation of a hydrophobic acrylic IOL and capsular tension ring (CTR). ACO reductions were measured for six months after enrolment. Data on late IOL dislocations were collected five years after enrolment of the last patient. Result…

Occurrence of two rare species from order Lampriformes: Crestfish Lophotus lacepede (Giorna, 1809) and scalloped ribbonfish Zu cristatus(Bonelli, 181…

2017

The bony fish Lophotus lacepede (Giorna, 1809) and Zu cristatus (Bonelli, 1819) are the two species rarely recorded within the Mediterranean basin, usually reported as accidentally captured in depth (mesopelagic) fishing operations. In the current work, we present the first record of L. lacepede and Z. cristatus in fishing catches from southwestern Tyrrhenian Sea. Moreover, in order to improve existent biological/ ecological knowledge, some bio-related aspects such as feeding aspect, sexual maturity and age estimate have been discussed.

From Five- to Six-Membered Rings:  3,4-Diarylquinolinone as Lead for Novel p38MAP Kinase Inhibitors

2007

In this study we describe the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of 3-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-pyridin-4-ylquinoline-2(1H)-one (5) as a new inhibitor of MAPK with a p38alphaMAPK IC50 of 1.8 muM. By keeping the common vicinal pyridine/4-F-phenyl pharmacophore, such as in prototypical imidazole 20 or isoxazole 13 but in 5 connected to the six-membered quinoline core, we were particularly interested in comparing biological activity, details of molecular geometry, and different binding modes of these compounds. Compounds 20 and 13 were active both in the p38alpha- and JNK3-assay, whereas 5 was selective for p38alpha, with no JNK3 inhibition. By comparing the X-ray structures of the compound…

Design and Synthesis of 4-Substituted Indolo[3,2-e][1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine Derivatives with Antitumor Activity

2008

New derivatives of the indolo[3,2- e][1,2,3]triazolo[1,5- a]pyrimidine system, substituted in the 4 position, were designed as novel antitumor agents because of their theoretical capability to form stable complexes with DNA fragments. The calculated free energies of binding were found in the range -12.76 --> -39.68 Kcal/mol. The docking studies revealed a common binding mode with the chromophore intercalated between GC base pairs, whereas the side chain lies along the minor groove. Compounds, selected on the basis of the docking studies and suitably synthesized, showed antiproliferative activity against each type of tumor cell line investigated, generally in the low micromolar range. The mo…

Synthesis and antiproliferative activity of new derivatives containing the polycyclic system 5,7:7,13-dimethanopyrazolo[3,4-b]pyrazolo[3’,4’:2,3]azep…

2013

The reaction under reflux between 1-phenyl-3-R-5-methylaminopyrazoles and 2,5-hexanedione lead to 5,7:7,13-dimethanopyrazolo[3,4-b]pyrazolo[3′,4′:2,3]azepino[4,5-f]azocine derivatives 3b–g. These unusual molecules show the structural complexity of many biologically active natural products and are endowed with the chemical diversity that is required in drug discovery. The compounds 3b,e were reduced by hydrogen in the presence of Palladium on activated charcoal to give the dihydro derivatives 5b,e. Compounds 3b–f and 5b,e were selected by the NCI to evaluate their in vitro antiproliferative activity against 60 human cell lines derived from nine clinically isolated cancer types (leukaemia, lu…

Cluster organization and pore structure of ion channels formed by beticolin 3, a nonpeptidic fungal toxin

1999

Beticolin 3 (B3) belongs to a family of nonpeptidic phytotoxins produced by the fungus Cercospora beticola, which present a broad spectrum of cytotoxic effects. We report here that, at cytotoxic concentration (10 microM), B3 formed voltage-independent, weakly selective ion channels with multiple conductance levels in planar lipid bilayers. In symmetrical standard solutions, conductance values of the first levels were, respectively, 16 +/- 1 pS, 32 +/- 2 pS, and 57 +/- 2 pS (n = 4) and so on, any conductance level being roughly twice the lower one. Whether a cluster organization of elementary channels or different channel structures underlies this particular property was addressed by investi…

The coat protein of prunus necrotic ringspot virus specifically binds to and regulates the conformation of its genomic RNA

2003

AbstractBinding of coat protein (CP) to the 3′ nontranslated region (3′-NTR) of viral RNAs is a crucial requirement to establish the infection of Alfamo- and Ilarviruses. In vitro binding properties of the Prunus necrotic ringspot ilarvirus (PNRSV) CP to the 3′-NTR of its genomic RNA using purified E. coli- expressed CP and different synthetic peptides corresponding to a 26-residue sequence near the N-terminus were investigated by electrophoretic mobility shift assays. PNRSV CP bound to, at least, three different sites existing on the 3′-NTR. Moreover, the N-terminal region between amino acid residues 25 to 50 of the protein could function as an independent RNA-binding domain. Single exchan…
