'Big Brother' Germany and Spain: a Linguistic Characterization from a Theory of Register
2020
Measuring self-esteem in Spanish adolescents: Equivalence across gender and educational levels
2015
Rosenberg's self-esteem scale (RSES) has been applied in many areas of psychology, highlighting the interest in the study of gender differences and educational level. At the same time, there was a methodological debate on its psychometric properties. Evidence points at a scale measuring a single trait confounded by a method factor associated to negatively worded items. The aim of the study is to examine RSES differences due to gender and educational level at the factor level, while controlling for the presence of method effects, in Spanish students. A completely a priori model was separately tested in four subsamples: college men and women, and high school men and women, and an invariance r…

A clinical sample of 104 patients was asked to complete the form together with BDI-21 and BAI, and 92 of them filled the forms again after a 3-month tre…
Differenzierte chirurgische Therapie neuroendokriner Tumoren (NET) des Magens
2010
Neuroendocrine tumours (NET) of the stomach have increasingly entered into the focus of attention recently by endocrinologists as well as by surgeons on account of new findings on their biological background and their clinical relevance. The discriminating pathogenesis and the basically different biological behaviours of neuroendocrine tumours of the stomach require a differentiated therapeutical treatment for the different sub-types. The differential diagnostic clarification of the basic pathomechanism is therefore of decisive importance. As a consequence of the rarity of this entity, any treatment should be performed in corresponding centres. An interdisciplinary therapy planning, e. g., …
Can qualitative research play a role in answering ethical questions in intensive care?
2017
International audience; Scientific and technological progress, as well as increased patient autonomy have profoundly changed the world of healthcare, giving rise to new situations that are increasingly complex and uncertain. Quantitative paradigms, of which the main bastion is evidence-based medicine (EBM), are beginning to reach their limits in daily routine practice of medicine, and new approaches are emerging that can provide novel heuristic perspectives. Qualitative research approaches can be useful for apprehending new areas of knowledge that are fundamental to recent and future developments in intensive care.
Early Response to treatment in Eating Disorders: A Systematic Review and a Diagnostic Test Accuracy Meta-Analysis
2016
Objective: Early response to eating disorders treatment is thought to predict a later favourable outcome. A systematic review of the literature and meta-analyses examined the robustness of this concept. Method: The criteria used across studies to define early response were summarised following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Diagnostic Test Accuracy methodology was used to estimate the size of the effect. Results: Findings from 24 studies were synthesized and data from 14 studies were included in the meta-analysis. In Anorexia Nervosa, the odds ratio of early response predicting remission was 4.85(95%CI: 2.94–8.01) and the summary Area Unde…
Unterstützung klinisch-administrativer Aufgaben durch Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) - Möglichkeiten und Grenzen

Personal digital assistants (PDAs) are increasingly used by many professional and private users. They replace and combine common calendars, directories, to-do-lists and much more. Supplemented by useful additional software they can assist the clinician in his daily routine work. Cyberharassment Victimization on Three Continents : An Integrative Approach
2022
This article introduces and applies an integrative model of cyberharassment victimization. The model combines routine activity theory (RAT), the general theory of crime (GTC), and the personal resources approach to analyze risk factors for victimization while acknowledging the protective role of a sense of mastery. Survey respondents were aged 15 to 25 years (N = 4816) from the U.S., Finland, Spain, and South Korea. Logistic regression models were used to analyze cyberharassment victimization. RAT-related factors were positively associated with cyberharassment victimization. Low self-control was positively associated with cyberharassment victimization in the U.S., Finland, and Spain but not…
