AbstractThe hydrolysis of Al3+ was studied in aqueous 1 mol L−1 NaNO3 solution at different concentrations (20–200 mmol L−1) and temperatures (283.15–343.15 K) by potentiometry (ISE-H+, glass electrode). Many different speciation models were considered in the calculations and it was found that the best model is represented by the following species: Al(OH)2+, Al(OH)45+, Al13(OH)327+. Hydrolysis constants and enthalpy changes at different temperatures are reported.

Quantitative data on the speciation of chitosan (310 kDa) with low and high molecular weight carboxylates in aqueous solution are reported. The following carboxylic ligands were considered: monocarboxylate (butyrate); dicarboxylates (malonate, succinate, azelate); tricarboxylate (1,2,3-propa- netricarboxylate); tetracarboxylate (1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylate); polyacrylates (2.0 and 20 kDa); polymethacrylate (5.4 kDa). HPLC: a tool for the analysis of T-2 toxin and HT-2 toxin in cereals.

An analytical procedure for the determination of trichothecenes in various cereals is described. HPLC was performed with a reversed-phase (C18) column eluted with methanol:water (60:40, v/v). Compounds were detected with a refractive index detector. The elution patterns of free and contaminated samples were compared. The recovery of added T-2 toxin (2 and 5 micrograms/g) in rye and wheat was approximately 80%. The application of this method allows for combined use with other sensitive methods such as mass spectrometry and gas chromatography. The described method is operationally simple, relatively inexpensive, and requires no derivatization.

The detection of SARS-CoV-2 in indoor environments is a cause of increasing concern. In this study, three sampling methodologies have been used in order to collect SARS-CoV-2 and 17 other respiratory viruses in indoor air, combined with a new analytical process to analyze respiratory viruses. Different areas of an ophthalmological hospital were investigated for the presence of these airborne viruses. Overdose of Quetiapine—A Case Report with QT Prolongation

Quetiapine is an atypical antipsychotic drug used to treat bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and major depressive disorder. Although several studies describe the adverse effects of intoxication with Quetiapine, only a few report an extreme overdose without comedications that lead to a life threat. We present a case of a 75-year-old male who tried to attempt suicide by ingesting 28 g of Quetiapine. During the management in the emergency department, both serum and urine samples were collected, allowing a complete pharmacokinetic analysis to be conducted, from the admission to the discharge.

The content of Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn, has been determined in the organic and inorganic fraction of eight soil samples from Sicily.
