Jokapäiväisessä työssä käytämme omaan työhömme liittyviä käsitteitä usein epätäsmällisesti. Akateemisessa kontekstissa tilannetta mutkistaa se, että tieteellinen työskentely perustuu käsitteille ja niiden välisille suhteille. Tässä artikkelissa keskustelen muutamista tiedonhankinnan opetukseen liittyvistä keskeisistä käsitteistä, kuten otsikossa mainittu tiedonhankinta, sekä niiden tulkinnoista. Lisäksi pohdin tulkintoihin liittyviä etuja ja haittoja opiskelijoiden kanssa yhteistyössä tehdyn opetuksen kehittämistyön näkökulmasta.
Modeling and designing a robotic swarm: A quantum computing approach

Nature is a neverending source of inspiration for technology. Quantum physics suggests applications to- ward quantum computing. Swarms’ self-organization leads to robotic swarm developments. Here, quantum computing is applied to swarm robotics. We model local interactions with a quantum circuit, testing it on simulators and quantum computers. To relate local with global behavior, we develop a block matrix-based model. Diagonal sub-matrices contain information on single robots; off-diagonal sub-matrices are the pairwise interaction terms. In this paper we address an exploratory search challenge by presenting a new (structure-driven) collaborative filtering technique. The aim is to increase search effectiveness by predicting implicit seeker’s intents at an early stage of the search process. This is achieved by uncovering behavioral patterns within large datasets of preserved collective search experience. We apply a specific tree-based data structure called a TB (There-and-Back) structure for compact storage of search history in the form of merged query trails – sequences of queries approaching iteratively a seeker’s goal. First observation and study of the K± → π±π0e+e− decay

The NA48/2 experiment at CERN reports the first observation of the K-+/- -> pi(+/-)pi(0)e(+)e(-) decay from an exposure of 1.7 x 10(11) charged kaon decays recorded in 2003-2004. A sample of 4919 candidates with 4.9% background contamination allows the determination of the branching ratio in the full kinematic region, BR(K-+/- -> pi(+/-)pi(0)e(+)e(-)) = (4.24 +/- 0.14) x 10(-6). The study of the kinematic space shows evidence for a structure dependent contribution in agreement with predictions based on chiral perturbation theory. Several P- and CP-violating asymmetries are also evaluated.
