Sport Ethics: The substantialist proposal of Lumpkin, Stoll and Beller, from ethical proceduralism

2013

In this article the author presents critically the proposed sports ethics as «bag of virtues» that Americans made three authors are Lumpkin, Stoll and Beller. This propo…

Studentu radošuma veicināšana vizuālās mākslas studijās

2013

Anotācija Daigas Kalējas-Gasparovičas promocijas darbā ,,Studentu radošuma veicināšana vizuālās mākslas studijās”, pētot studentu radošumu un tā veicināšanu vizuālās mākslas studijās atklājot personības darbības pieeju vizuālās mākslas apguvē kā studentiem personīgi nozīmīgu radošuma attīstības iespēju, tiek izveidots teorētiski pamatots vizuālās mākslas apguves modelis un empīriski pārbaudīta tā ietekme un efektivitāte studentu radošuma veicināšanā studijās. Analizēta radošuma jēdziena daudznozīmība starpzinātņu kontekstā, teorētiskās koncepcijas mākslas pedagoģijā, atbilstoši personības darbības teorijas nostādnēm, apzinātas pedagoģiskās iespējas docētāja un studentu radošai sadarbībai. Force transmission and interactions between synergistic muscles

2023

The classical view of muscles as independent motors has been challenged over the past decades. An alternative view has emerged in which muscles are not isolated but embedded in a three-dimensional connective tissue network that links them to adjacent muscles and other non-muscular structures in the body. Animal studies showing that the forces measured at the distal and proximal ends of a muscle are not equal have provided undisputable evidence that these connective tissue linkages are strong enough to serve as an extra pathway for muscular force transmission. In this historical review, we first introduce the terminology and anatomy related to these pathways of muscle force transmission and …

Creating and maintaining social networks: women’s participation in Basque pilota. [Creación y mantenimiento de redes sociales: participación de mujer…

2015

Basque pilota is a traditional sport played mainly by men. A project emerged in 2005 to promote female participation: Emakumea Pilotari (Woman pelota player). In this article we present the main points that emerged from an ethnographic study of the social relationships that playing Basque pilota can provide. The study was carried out in 2011-2012 season with a purposive sample of 28 adult women Basque pilota players (pilotaris) (between 22 and 60 years old). 26 participants were pilotaris in recreational groups and the other two were their trainers. The results suggest that a sense of community, team membership, the development of a general reciprocity and group security are the most import…

Zasada fair play a edukacja rodzinna

2017

Artykuł przedstawia relację pomiędzy sportową zasadą fair play a edukacją rodzinną.

Impact of using different levels of threshold-based artefact correction on the quantification of heart rate variability in three independent human co…

2020

Heart rate variability (HRV) is a non-invasive indicator of autonomic nervous system function. HRV recordings show artefacts due to technical and/or biological issues. The Kubios software is one of the most used software to process HRV recordings, offering different levels of threshold-based artefact correction (i.e., Kubios filters). The aim of the study was to analyze the impact of different Kubios filters on the quantification of HRV derived parameters from short-term recordings in three independent human cohorts. A total of 312 participants were included: 107 children with overweight/obesity (10.0 &plusmn

Longitudinal physical activity patterns and the development of cardiometabolic risk factors during adolescence

2023

Purpose To examine the associations between longitudinal physical activity (PA) patterns and the development of cardiometabolic risk factors from adolescence to young adulthood. Methods This cohort study encompassed 250 participants recruited from sports clubs and schools, and examined at mean age 15 and 19. Device-measured moderate-to-vigorous PA was grouped into five patterns (via a data-driven method, using inactivity maintainers as a reference). The outcomes were: glucose, insulin, homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), total cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, and body mass index (BMI). Linear growth curve models were applied wit…

Validation in Young Soccer Players of the Modified Version of the Harre Circuit Test: The Petrucci Ability Test

2021

The evaluation of soccer players’ physical fitness from youth onward is important for monitoring performance and planning training. While health-related factors present valid and reliable tests, the skill-related component should be studied in depth. An interesting test to evaluate the skill-related factors is the Harre circuit test (HTC); unfortunately, this test includes the somersault, an element not present in soccer. The aim of the present study is the validation of the Petrucci ability test (PAT), a variation of the HTC without the somersault for young soccer players. Children and adolescents (age range 10–13 years old) soccer players concluded the 20-m, the HTC and the PAT. To establ…
