ESTADOS PROVINCIALES Y OFICIOS DE HACIENDA EN EL REINO DE FRANCIA (SIGLOS XVI A XVIII): LOS CASOS DE BORGOÑA Y DE BRETAÑA
2014
Correspondence between generalized binomial field states and coherent atomic states
2008
We show that the N-photon generalized binomial states of electromagnetic field may be put in a bijective mapping with the coherent atomic states of N two-level atoms. We exploit this correspondence to simply obtain both known and new properties of the N-photon generalized binomial states. In particular, an over-complete basis of these binomial states and an orthonormal basis are obtained. Finally, the squeezing properties of generalized binomial state are analyzed.
Experimental Engineering of Arbitrary Qudit States with Discrete-Time Quantum Walks
2019
The capability to generate and manipulate quantum states in high-dimensional Hilbert spaces is a crucial step for the development of quantum technologies, from quantum communication to quantum computation. One-dimensional quantum walk dynamics represents a valid tool in the task of engineering arbitrary quantum states. Here we affirm such potential in a linear-optics platform that realizes discrete-time quantum walks in the orbital angular momentum degree of freedom of photons. Different classes of relevant qudit states in a six-dimensional space are prepared and measured, confirming the feasibility of the protocol. Our results represent a further investigation of quantum walk dynamics in p…
Identification of the Jπ = 1− state in 218Ra populated via α decay of 222Th
2016
The α decay of 222Th populating the low-lying J π = 3− state, and also a proposed 1− state, in 218Ra has been observed. The observations suggest an excitation energy of 853 keV for the 1− state, which is 60 keV above the 3− state. The hindrance factors of these α decays give a possible boundary to the region of ground-state octupole deformation in the light-actinide nuclei. The relative positions of the J π = 1− and 3− states suggest they are produced by an octupole-vibrational mechanism, as opposed to α clustering or rotations of a reflection-asymmetric octupole-deformed shape. peerReviewed
Urheilu, rasismi ja Washingtonin punanahat
2014
How representative are referendums? Evidence from 20 years of Swiss referendums
2017
Direct democracy allows citizens to reverse decisions made by legislatures and even initiate new laws which parliaments are unwilling to pass, thereby, as its proponents argue, leading to more representative policies than would have obtained under a purely representative democracy. Yet, turnout in referendums is usually lower than in parliamentary elections and tends to be skewed towards citizens of high socio-economic status. Consequently, critics of direct democracy argue that referendum outcomes may not be representative of the preferences of the population at large. We test this assertion using a compilation of post-referendum surveys encompassing 148 national referendums held in Switze…
Wpływ traktatu lizbońskiego na regulacje imigracyjne UE ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zasady solidarności i sprawiedliwego podziału odpowiedzialności…
2018
The Influence of the Treaty of Lisbon on the EU Immigration Regulations with Particular Attention to the Principle of Solidarity and Fair Sharing of Responsibility Between Member StatesAnalysis of the influence of the Treaty of Lisbon on the EU immigration regulations with particular attention to the principle of solidarity and fair sharing of responsibility between Member States indicates that the Treaty of Lisbon extensively reformed these regulations. Its premise and mechanisms should be assessed as justified. However, they give a lot of leeway for interpretation and need to be supplementedwith EU secondary law. Unfortunately, states are primarily driven by their interest when applying t…
Effects of states governments restrictions related on Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on states economy - comparison of Baltic States, Sweden, and Bel…
2021
In order to limit the spread of COVID-19, states have gradually implemented restrictions mandating school and kindergarten closures, postponing academic semesters and prohibiting visits to nursing homes to protect the elderly, borders were closed, states prohibited physical contact with more than one person from outside one's household, and other restrictions. This paper examines the economic effects of policies to contain Covid-19 in Baltic States by comparing they with experience of Sweden and Belarus where approach was less stringent and based more on social responsibility than legal obligations compared to the other European states
Sleepless in Carver Country: Insomnia and Existential Crisis in Raymond Carver’s Short Fiction
2020
In Raymond Carver’s short fiction, the night is n…
Towards CCTV-aware Routing and Navigation for Privacy, Anonymity, and Safety - Feasibility Study in Jyväskylä
2021
AbstractIn order to withstand the ever-increasing invasion of privacy by CCTV cameras and technologies, on par CCTV-aware solutions must exist that provide privacy, safety, and cybersecurity features. We argue that a first important step towards such CCTV-aware solutions must be a mapping system (e.g., Google Maps, OpenStreetMap) that provides both privacy and safety routing and navigation options. Unfortunately, to the best of our knowledge, there are no mapping nor navigation systems that support CCTV-privacy and CCTV-safety routing options. At the same time, in order to move the privacy vs. safety debate related to CCTV surveillance cameras from purely subjective to data-driven and evide…
