AZIENDE FAMILIARI E RAPPORTI DI PARENTELA AL LAVORO
2014
Introduzione.
Off–on BODIPY-based chemosensors for selective detection of Al3+ and Cr3+versus Fe3+ in aqueous media
2014
[EN] Two new off-on BODIPY-based chemosensors that are highly sensitive for trivalent cations in aqueous solutions are described. Compound 2 exhibits selective sensing of Al3+ and Cr3+ versus Fe3+ through two different channels (UV-vis and fluorescence).
Strain state analysis of InGaN/GaN - sources of error and optimized imaging conditions.
2006
Transmission electron microscopy investigation of the chemical composition of In x Ga 1-x N/GaN layers by strain state analysis can lead to substantial artefacts. We evaluated simulated images in dependence of specimen thickness, specimen orientation and objective lens defocus. We observed that the measurement is in agreement with the true strain profile for certain conditions only. An analysis of error sources revealed that artefacts are mainly caused by a combination of delocalization and the composition dependence of the phases of the beams contributing to the image formation. The delocalization effect is minimized for interference of the undiffracted beam with one of the 000 ± 2 beams. …
Disulfide stress and its targets in acute pancreatitis
2014
Under physiological conditions, the balance between ROS production and removal properly maintains the intracellular redox-sensitive signaling as well as the appropriate status of protein thiols and disulfides. However, inflammation among other factors can modify this balance causing a rapid increase in intracellular ROS levels and hence thiol oxidation, eventually leading to oxidative stress. In the case of acute pancreatitis, both redox signaling and oxidative stress seem to contribute to the progression of the severe form of the disease. In this review we will focus on the reversible oxidation of protein cysteines during the course of acute pancreatitis. We describe disulfide stress in an…
Interaction of Human Phagocytes with Pigmentless Aspergillus Conidia
2000
ABSTRACT A defect in the pksP gene of Aspergillus fumigatus is associated with the loss of conidial pigmentation, a profound change of the conidial surface structure, and reduced virulence. The structural change of the conidial surface structure was not observed in similar A. nidulans wA mutants. Our data indicate that the pigment of both species is important for scavenging reactive oxygen species and for protection of conidia against oxidative damage.
Withanone Ameliorates Stress Symptoms in Caenorhabditis Elegans by Acting through Serotonin Receptors
2021
ABSTRACT Introduction Depression is responsible for 800 000 deaths worldwide, a number that will rise significantly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Affordable novel drugs with less severe side effects are urgently required. We investigated the effect of withanone (WN) from Withania somnifera on the serotonin system of wild-type and knockout Caenorhabditis elegans strains using in silico, in vitro, and in vivo methods. Methods WN or fluoxetine (as positive control drug) was administered to wild-type (N2) and knockout C. elegans strains (AQ866, DA1814, DA2100, DA2109, and MT9772) to determine their effect on oxidative stress (Trolox, H2DCFDA, and juglone assays) on osmotic stress and heat stres…

Fluvastatin prevents glutamate-induced blood-brain-barrier disruption in vitro.
2008
Abstract Glutamate is an important excitatory amino acid in the central nervous system. Under pathological conditions glutamate levels dramatically increase. Aim of the present study was to examine whether the HMG-CoA inhibitor fluvastatin prevents glutamate-induced blood-brain-barrier (BBB) disruption. Measurements of transendothelial electrical resistance (TEER) were performed to analyze BBB integrity in an in vitro co-culture model of brain endothelial and glial cells. Myosin light chain (MLC) phosphorylation was detected by immunohistochemistry, or using the in-cell western technique. Intracellular Ca 2+ and reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels were analyzed using the fluorescence dyes …
How do individual attachment patterns of both members of couples affect their perceived infertility stress? An actor–partner interdependence analysis
2016
Abstract There exists a lack of dyadic research examining how the attachment characteristics of infertile individuals influence their experience of infertility-related distress. The actor partner interdependence model was used to test a theoretical model by examining whether both infertile wives and husbands, who display high levels of attachment avoidance and/or attachment anxiety, will experience infertility-related distress. Seven hundred and seventy individuals (385 couples) completed the experience in close relationships, the fertility problem inventory, and the state-trait anxiety inventory prior to infertility treatment. Wives' distress was predicted by their own and by their husband…
Are attachment dimensions associated with infertility-related stress in couples undergoing their first IVF treatment? A study on the individual and c…
2012
study question: Are attachment anxiety and avoidance dimensions in female and male partners in couples seeking infertility treat- ment associated with her and his infertility-related stress? summary answer: Attachment dimensions are significantly associated with several aspects of infertility stress in couples undergoing IVF treatment. what is known and what this paper adds: Attachment dimensions of anxiety and avoidance (where highly anxious individuals fear rejection and are preoccupied with maintaining proximity to their partner and highly avoidant individuals are uncomfortable with intimacy and prefer to maintain distance from their partner) may influence the well being of individuals u…
