Happiness in Physical Activity: A Longitudinal Examination of Children Motivation and Negative Affect in Physical Activity

2020

Physical activity has beneficial effects on health and is extremely recommended for children's well-being. Understanding risk factors that could cause negative affect in children practicing physical activity is hugely relevant, and there is a growing consensus that autonomous and controlled motivation in the self-determination theory (SDT) framework could offer a broader perspective. Consequently, this study aims to examine the longitudinal relations between autonomous motivation, controlled motivation, and negative affect in physical activity, using a sample of children that regularly participate in physical activity. One hundred forty children in the range age between 7 and 11 (M = 8.45, …

Le droit à l’autodétermination du peuple palestinien

2016

The right of the Palestinian people to liberate themselves from foreign occupation in the name of the principle of self-determination has played, and is playing today, a central role in the resolution of the Arab-Israeli problem, representing a real catalyst principle in a process which, unfortunately, remains unfinished. The question today revolves around the fulfilment of an obligation to negotiate conventionally accepted by the parties, considered without alternative by the international community, but which in practice translates into a right of veto over the exercise of self-determination, contradicting the inalienable nature of this principle. Self-determination thus becomes negotiabl…

Le poche luci e le molte ombre dei disegni di legge italiani in tema di morte medicalmente assistita

2022

The research analyzes the recent Italian draft laws on Medical Assistance in dying, their strengths and several shortcomings, comparing them with other European laws on this subject. The Italian draft laws are not fully hinged on the exercise of self-de- termination of the suffering person but remain bound to the reference to a condition of proximity to death or the presence of life-sustaining treatments, which in fact cause unjustified inequities in access to a health service aimed at protecting the dignity of the person. Furthermore, the articulation of the procedures for requesting and assessing suitability outlined in the Italian bills does not allow to fully protect the person in a con…

L’occupation de l’Iraq. Le Conseil de sécurité, le droit de la guerre et le droit des peuples à disposer d’eux-mêmes

2004

By Resolutions No. 1483 and 1511 (2003), the Security Council authorized the occupying powers in Iraq to intervene in the political and economic affairs of the occupied territory beyond the limits provided for by international law of war. At the same time, this authorization restricts the right of the Iraqui peole to self- determination, considered in its external aspect. Thus, the problem arises whether it is within the Security Council's powers to adopt resolutions which restrict the enjoyment of rights protected by rules of jus cogens. Furthermore, because the occupying government interpreted these resolutions broadly, it may be asked whether this interpretation is lawful. From a close e…

The relevance of the victim's self-responsibility is considered in relation to the case of the death of the drug user. This issue has been extensively examined in German and Italian jurisprudence, with different outcomes on the applicable rules in the two criminal systems and further dogmatic consequenc…

'A Shared Reality between a Journalist and the Audience': How Live Journalism Reimagines News Stories

2021

Live journalism is a new journalistic genre in which journalists present news stories to a live audience. This article investigates the journalistic manuscripts of live journalism performances. The data were gathered from Musta laatikko (‘Black Box’) manuscripts, a live journalism production by the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat. The manuscripts were analysed as eudaimonic journalism through four conceptual dimensions: self-transcendence, autonomy, competence, and relatedne…
