Empathy is a pedagogic and educative category and justifies the notion of vicarious intentionality defining either the empathy structure or the proper dynamic of the educative process. According to the language of classical philosophy and pedagogy, this essay deals with it as an ethic and dianoetic virtue. The core of the whole becomes the phenomenology of empathy, the analysis of the constitutive intentionalities of such a singular personal virtue: the free disposal, the ethic attitude and the spiritual request.

Electric current measurement at the range of μA in integrated circuit has been traditionally carried out by micro-electronically engineered systems, such as current mirrors or charging capacitors. However, off-line, i.e., non-intrusive methods provide advantages related to size and power consumption. On Common Sense, Estimation, and the Soul’s Unity in Avicenna

This paper addresses two questions related to Themistius’ alleged influence on Avicenna’s theory of the common sense. The first question concerns the phenomenon of incidental perception, which Themistius explained by means of the common sense. For Avicenna, on the contrary, the explanation of cases like our perceiving something yellow as honey involves the faculty of estimation and the entire system of the internal senses that he coined, and this results in an analysis that is considerably more complex than Themistius’. Ethernet FSO Communications Link Performance Study Under a Controlled Fog Environment

In this letter the performance of a free space optical (FSO) communication link in the presence of fog is experimentally investigated in an indoor environment. A dedicated indoor atmospheric chamber, replicating the outdoor environment, is being used to evaluate the FSO link performance under the fog condition. Theoretical analysis supported by the experimental evaluation has been carried out for the intensity modulation/direct detection on-off keying non-return-to-zero (OOK-NRZ), OOK return-to-zero (OOK-RZ) and four pulse position modulation (4-PPM) modulation formats at the Ethernet baseline data-rate. Everyday life in old age: past, present, and future

Aims: To explore how older Norwegian women living at home experience ageing, and how their everyday life has been influenced by their encounters with the challenges of life. Methods: A qualitative design, interviewing ten women age 90 or older, was employed. Results: The overall theme of the findings is how everyday life in old age is influenced by past, present and future. The subcategories focus on (a) changes in daily life, (b) giving an account of life as it is, (c) various perceptions of experienced loss, and finally, (d) thoughts about the future. Im Beitrag wird Gérard Granels "introduction“ zu seiner "traduction" von Heideggers "Was heißt Denken?" vorgestellt, die Ende der Fünfzigerjahre in Zusammenarbeit mit dem deutschen Aloys Becker entstand und 1959 erstmalig bei den Presses Universitaires de France erschien. Dieser sprachlich und gedanklich bemerkenswert dichte Übersetzungskommentar Granels ist im Hinblick auf die Frage nach dem Verhältnis von Theorie und Praxis des Übersetzens, die als Frage nach der Möglichkeit einer Überwindung gestellt wird, umso aufschlussreicher, als bereits die heideggersche Vorlage wesentlich um den Zusammenhang von Denken und Übersetzen, Sprachmaterialität und Sinnschöpfung kreist.
