Properties of Nanosized Ferrite Powders and Sintered Materials Prepared by the Co-Precipitation Technology, Combined with the Spray-Drying Method

2016

Cobalt and nickel ferrites powders are synthesized by the co-precipitation technology, combined with the spray-drying method. The crystallite size, specific surface area (SSA), magnetic properties of synthesized products are investigated. All the synthesized ferrites are nanocrystalline single phase materials with crystallite size of 5-6 nm, the SSA of 80-85 m2/g and the calculated particle size of 13-15 nm. After spray-drying granules of the size up to 10 μm are obtained. After thermal treatment at 550 and 950 °C SSA decreases to 40-50 m2/g and 20-22 m2/g, respectively. The saturation magnetization at these temperatures increase from 17 to 40 emu/g for NiFe2O4 and from 51 to 77 emu/g for C…

Wear and corrosion resistant performance of thermal-sprayed Fe-based amorphous coatings: A review

2019

Abstract Thermal sprayed Fe-based amorphous coatings exhibit excellent wear and corrosion resistance, and thus have been widely utilized for enhancing the performance of material surfaces. In this paper, important research progresses achieved in regards to deposition technologies and properties of thermal sprayed Fe-based amorphous coatings are reviewed. In particular, the dependence of wear and corrosion resistance of the coatings on processing parameters, e.g., kinetic energy, particle size, gas flow rate, and heat treatment temperature are summarized. Moreover, the utilization of reinforced phases and alloy elements for enhancing the wear and corrosion resistance of the coatings are pres…

Microstructure and electric properties of low-pressure plasma sprayed β-FeSi 2 based coatings

2017

Abstract Thermoelectric material β-FeSi 2 based coating was fabricated by the technique low-pressure plasma spray (LPPS) on the Al 2 O 3 substrate from different alloy powders. During the process LPPS, the phase transformation had occurred through the peritectoid, eutectoid reaction and their inverse reaction. The grain size of the as-sprayed β-FeSi 2 doped Co coatings was reduced comparing with the original feedstock powders, which implied the thermal conductivity could effectively decreased by the LPPS process. The room temperature electrical conductivity showed metal and semiconductor properties on the as-sprayed and annealed coatings. This method and the results could solve the problems…

Synthesis of FeAl Hetero-Nanostructured Bulk Parts via Spark Plasma Sintering of Milled Powder

2006

AbstractSpark plasma sintering (SPS) has been used in order to introduce nanocrystalline grains within fully dense FeAl consolidated parts. Hetero-nanostructured parts, consisting of nano, ultrafine and micrometric grains, have been successfully processed when milled - Y2O3 reinforced - FeAl powder was used. The large temperature differences that are spontaneously generated during the SPS process as well as the use of milled powder account for the formation of such interesting structures. The grain size distribution - that is suggested to be very potent to improve both strength and ductility - could be significantly modified by a proper selection of sintering temperature and holding time.

Performance evaluation and stability of silicide-based thermoelectric modules

2020

Abstract Long-term studies on thermoelectric generators based on N-type magnesium silicide (Mg2.01Si0.49Sn0.5Sb0.01) and P-type higher manganese silicide (Mn0.98Mo0.02Si1.73Ge0.02) materials are presented, in the operating temperature range of 200 °C–400 °C. Emphasis is put on the performance and reliability of the current collector configuration, especially on the hot side of the module, and on the thermomechanical stresses that are created during operation and lifetime testing as a result of large temperature gradients experienced across the thermoelectric legs. With silver (Ag) paste as contact material, the long term-stability of the uni-couples was carried out on non-metalized legs and…

Oxidation resistance of Ti 3 AlC 2 and Ti 3 Al 0.8 Sn 0.2 C 2 MAX phases: A comparison

2019

Ti3AlC2 and Ti3Al0.8Sn0.2C2 MAX phase powders are densified using Spark Plasma Sintering technique to obtain dense bulk materials. Oxidation tests are then performed over the temperature range 800-1000°C under synthetic air on the two different materials in order to compare their oxidation resistance. It is demonstrated that, in the case of the Ti3Al0.8Sn0.2C2 solid solution, the oxide layers consist in TiO2, Al2O3 and SnO2. The presence of Sn atoms in

Optimization of physicochemical and optical properties of nanocrystalline TiO 2 deposited on porous silicon by metal-organic chemical vapor depositio…

2020

International audience; Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is very employed in solar cells due to its interesting physicochemical and optical properties allowing high device performances. Considering the extension of applications in nanotechnologies, nanocrystalline TiO2 is very promising for nanoscale components. In this work, nanocrystalline TiO2 thin films were successfully deposited on porous silicon (PSi) by metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) technique at temperature of 550°C for different periods of times: 5, 10 and 15 min. The objective was to optimize the physicochemical and optical properties of the TiO2/PSi films dedicated for photovoltaic application. The structural, morphologi…

Validation of mathematical model for CZ process using small-scale laboratory crystal growth furnace

2018

The present material is focused on the modelling of small-scale laboratory NaCl-RbCl crystal growth furnace. First steps towards fully transient simulations are taken in the form of stationary simulations that deal with the optimization of material properties to match the model to experimental conditions. For this purpose, simulation software primarily used for the modelling of industrial-scale silicon crystal growth process was successfully applied. Finally, transient simulations of the crystal growth are presented, giving a sufficient agreement to experimental results.

Reactive Sintering of molybdenum disilicide by Spark Plasma Sintering from mechanically activated powder mixtures: Processing parameters and properti…

2008

Abstract Dense molybdenum disilicide with a nano-organized microstructure was synthesized by mechanical activation, by producing nanostructured agglomerates of a 1:2 mixture of Mo and Si, followed by the synthesis/consolidation in one step using SPS technology. In order to synthesize a dense molybdenum disilicide with a perfectly controlled microstructure, an investigation of the influence of Spark Plasma Sintering processing parameters (temperature, heating rate, mechanical pressure and holding time) on the chemical composition and the microstructure characteristics has been performed. The present work shows also that the so-obtained materials present better oxidation resistance in compari…
