Music and speech both communicate emotional meanings in addition to their domain-specific contents. But it is not clear whether and how the two kinds of emotional meanings are linked. The present study is focused on exploring the emotional connotations of musical timbre of isolated instrument sounds through the perspective of emotional speech prosody. The stimuli were isolated instrument sounds and emotional speech prosody categorized by listeners into anger, happiness and sadness, respectively. This study investigated the overall patterns of variation across seven oral proficiency levels of 1,263 Japanese EFL learners and native English speakers. The methodological approach combined a learner corpus, language processing techniques, and multivariate statistical analyses to identify patterns of language use. The aim of this paper is to compare a specific picture of speech disturbances in Polish-speaking patients with mixed dysarthria in multiple sclerosis (MS), and in Wilson’s disease (WD). We selected for the experiment 20 persons with dysarthria of different origin: 10 persons with dysarthria in multiple sclerosis (MS), and 10 persons with dysarthria in Wilson’s disease (WD). Sound event detection is the task of identifying automatically the presence and temporal boundaries of sound events within an input audio stream.
