SearchBot: Supporting voice conversations with proactive search

Searching during conversations and social interactions is becoming increasingly common. Although searching could be helpful for solving arguments, building common ground, and reinforcing mutual assumptions, it can also cause inter-actional problems. Proactive search approaches can enrich conversations with additional information without neglecting the shared and established social norms of being attentive to ongoing interaction. Pētījums „Ražošanas robežas un kārtība: Amatnieciskās mājas vīna ražošanas Latvijā gadījumu izpēte” fokusējas uz „formālajā tirgus daļā” ieejošo vīndaru pieredzi. Kvalitatīvās metodes ir pielietotas, lai analizētu, kā viņi pieņem, pielāgo vai apstrīd normatīvo regulējumu un pieņēmumus par to, kas ir Latvijas vīns un kā tam vajadzētu tikt ražotam un izplatītam konkrēta tirgus sektora ietvarā post-industriālajā ekonomikā. Analīze rāda, ka vīndari neuztver normatīvo regulējumu kā apgrūtinājumu, bet gan gūst baudu un lepnumu no spējas radīt savu vīnu tā kontekstā un caur to, radot augstas kvalitātes amatniecības produktu, ko iekāro patērētāji. The article starts from a conception of language according to which the semiotic units that speakers use do not emanate from individual mental processes but from the socialization of representation instruments which, being individual elements initially, have later been involved in processes of communicative circulation. In the same way that, in each language, verbal uses are limited by a series of restrictions in the constitution of some phonic, lexical or morphosyntactic structures, there are also some other constraints that affect textual genres. Creaky voice and utterance fluency measures in predicting perceived fluency and oral proficiency of spontaneous L2 Finnish

While utterance fluency measures are often studied in rela tion to perceived L2 fluency and proficiency, the effect of creaky voice remains ignored. However, creaky voice is frequent in a number of languages, including Finnish, where it serves as a cue for phrase-boundaries and turn-taking. In this study we inves tigate the roles of creaky voice and utterance fluency measures in predicting fluency and proficiency ratings of spontaneous L2 Finnish (F2) speech. In so doing, 16 expert raters participated in assessing narrative spontaneous speech samples from 160 learn ers of Finnish. Lexical Substitution and Paraphasia in Advanced Dementia of the Alzheimer Type

Abstract The paper presents the case study of lexical selection in Alzheimer-type dementia. Lexical substitutions in poem recitation and conversations of a Russian speaker, who suffered Alzheimer-type dementia, were analyzed on the background of the lexical retrieval and slip-of-the-tongue phenomena. The classification of the substitutions is worked out on the basis of the links between a target word and its substitutions. The current context plays an essential role as natural priming for a substitution in a poem recitation. Šis darbs iepazīstina ar laikraksta The Guardian tiešsiastes publikāciju analīzi. Šī darba mērķis ir izanalizēt pastāvīgo vārdu (lietvārdu, darbības vārdu un īpašības vārdu) biežumu laikrakstu publikācijas un to diskusiju ziņās. Galvenā pētījuma metode bija korpusa-lingvistiskā metode, kas balstīta uz Makenerija (2006) teoriju. Šī darba autors izveidoja mini-korpusu, kas sastāvēja no divām teksta grupām: laikrakstu publikācijām un diskusiju ziņām. Vārdšķiru biežuma sadalījums korpusā, norāda uz formalitātes līmeņu atšķirību starp laikrakstu publikācijām un to diskusiju ziņām. Tekst dotyczy zjawiska rasizmu we wspó³czesnej Polsce, które zgodnie z tezą autora tekstu, w ostatnich latach się nasila. W wyniku co najmniej dwóch istotnych procesów społecznych (migracje z Ukrainy oraz rozwój współpracy międzynarodowej w obszarze szkolnictwa wyższego) znacząco wzrosła liczba obcokrajowców w raczej monokulturowej do tej pory Polsce. Oprócz tego w związku z tzw. kryzysem uchodźczym oraz zamachami terrorystycznymi w Zachodniej Europie, obcokrajowcy, zwłaszcza zaś muzułmanie, stali się mocno widoczni w polskich mediach. Questo contributo esamina, nella consolatio ad parentes che chiude il logos epitaphios, il modo in cui Pericle propone di superare il lutto che ha colpito alcuni padri nel primo anno di guerra, invitandoli in primo luogo a generare altri figli. Ciò consentirebbe a quei padri di superare la potenziale aporia tra l’agire nell'interesse strettamente individuale e l’agire nell’interesse della grandezza della polis, obliando il dolore privato con la procreazione di altri figli e con l’onore garantito dalla memoria pubblica: verrebbe così ripristinato l’equilibrio necessario tra partecipazione democratica, condizione di rischio condivisa e adeguatezza del processo deliberativo. Bakalaura darbā tiek pētīts brīvās netiešās runas izmantojums un funkcionalitāte Džeinas Ostinas romānā "Emma". Darba mērķis ir brīvas netiešās runas kā vēstījuma tehnikas izpēte un Džeinas Ostinas ieguldījuma kritiska analīze. Darba teorētiskajā daļā veikts netiešās runas pētījums un noteikta Džeinas Ostinas ietekme. Darba empīriskajā daļā tiek pētītas brīvās netiešās runas funkcijas romānā "Emma", balstoties uz konkrētiem piemēriem. Analīzes rezultāti apstiprina Džeinas Ostinas ieguldījuma nozīmi brīvās netiešās runas attīstībā. Darbā izdarītie secinājumi norāda, ka Džeinas Ostinas meistarīgais netiešās runas izmantojums apliecina viņas novatorisko stilu un izcilo literāro talantu.
