Qvalue and half-life of double-electron capture in184Os

2012

The observation of neutrinoless double-beta transitionswould reveal physics beyond the Standard Model, asit would establish neutrinos to be Majorana particles, which implies a violation of the lepton number conserva-tion. Experiments searching for these transitions have fo-cused on the detection of neutrinoless double-beta decay(0 ) rather than neutrinoless double-electron capture(0). One reason among others is in general the sig-ni cantly shorter half-life of the 0 process. However,in the case of neutrinoless double-electron capture, thetransition is expected to be resonantly enhanced if theinitial and the nal state of the transition are degeneratein energy [1{3].In this work, we inves…

Important Rare Kaon Decays

2012

Kaon decays stay as one of the benchmarks of the Standard Model and its possible deviations. Though most of the channels receive low-energy non-perturbative contributions and, therefore, the possibility of extracting Standard Model parameters with accurate precision is somewhat dumbed, there are a few rare decays that are theoretically clean and may open a window on New Physics. Here we recall two of them: K → π ν ν ¯ and K L → π 0 l + l − .

Search for Neutral Higgs Bosons Decaying to Tau Pairs inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2006

A search for the production of neutral Higgs bosons {Phi} decaying into {tau}{sup +}{tau}{sup -} final states in p{bar p} collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV is presented. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 325 pb{sup -1}, were collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Since no excess compared to the expectation from standard model processes is found, limits on the production cross section times branching ratio are set. The results are combined with those obtained from the D0 search for {Phi}b({bar b}) {yields} b{bar b}b({bar b}) and are interpreted in the minimal supersymmetric standard model.

Search for a lightCP-odd Higgs boson in radiative decays ofJ/ψ

2016

We search for a light Higgs boson A(0) in the fully reconstructed decay chain of J/psi -> gamma A(0), A(0)-> mu(+)mu(-) using (225.0 +/- 2.8) x 10(6) J/psi events collected by the BESIII experiment. The A(0) is a hypothetical CP-odd light Higgs boson predicted by many extensions of the Standard Model including two spin-0 doublets plus an extra singlet. We find no evidence for A(0) production and set 90% confidence-level upper limits on the product branching fraction B(J/psi -> gamma A(0)) x B(A(0)-> mu(+)mu(-)) in the range of (2.8-495.3) x 10(-8) for 0.212 <= mA(0) <= 3.0 GeV/c(2). The new limits are five times below our previous results, and the nature of the A(0) is constrained to be mos…

Search forB0Decays to Invisible Final States and toνν¯γ

2004

We establish upper limits on branching fractions for B0 decays to final states where the decay products are purely invisible (i.e., no observable final state particles) and for B0 decays to nunugamma. Within the standard model, these decays have branching fractions that are below current experimental sensitivity, but various models of physics beyond the standard model predict significant contributions from these channels. Using 88.5 x 10(6) BB pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II e(+)e- storage ring at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, we establish upper limits at the 90% confidence level of 22 x 10(-5) for the branching fraction of B0-->i…

Testing generalized CP symmetries with precision studies at DUNE

2019

We examine the capabilities of the DUNE experiment in probing leptonic CP violation within the framework of theories with generalized CP symmetries characterized by the texture zeros of the corresponding CP transformation matrices. We investigate DUNE's potential to probe the two least known oscillation parameters, the atmospheric mixing angle $\theta_{23}$ and the Dirac CP-phase $\delta_{\rm CP}$. We fix theory-motivated benchmarks for ($ \sin^2\theta_{23}, \delta_{\rm CP} $) and take them as true values in our simulations. Assuming 3.5 years of neutrino running plus 3.5 years in the antineutrino mode, we show that in all cases DUNE can significantly constrain and in certain cases rule out…

Effective theories of flavor and the nonuniversal MSSM

2016

Flavor symmetries \`{a} la Froggatt-Nielsen~(FN) provide a compelling way to explain the hierarchies of fermionic masses and mixing angles in the Yukawa sector. In Supersymmetric~(SUSY) extensions of the Standard Model where the mediation of SUSY breaking occurs at scales larger than the breaking of flavor, this symmetry must be respected not only by the Yukawas of the superpotential, but by the soft-breaking masses and trilinear terms as well. In this work we show that contrary to naive expectations, even starting with completely flavor blind soft-breaking in the full theory at high scales, the low-energy sfermion mass matrices and trilinear terms of the effective theory, obtained upon int…

Search for Pair Production of Scalar Bottom Quarks inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2006

A search for direct production of scalar bottom quarks ((b) over bar) is performed with 310 pb(-1) of data collected by the D0 experiment in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The topology analyzed consists of two b jets and an imbalance in transverse momentum due to undetected neutralinos (chi(0)(1)), with chi(0)(1) assumed to be the lightest supersymmetric particle. We find the data consistent with standard model expectations, and set a 95% C.L. exclusion domain in the (m(b), m(chi 1)(0)) mass plane, improving significantly upon the results from run I of the Tevatron.

Neutrino oscillations from warped flavor symmetry: predictions for long baseline experiments T2K, NOvA and DUNE

2016

Here we study the pattern of neutrino oscillations emerging from a previously proposed warped model construction incorporating $\Delta(27)$ flavor symmetry. In addition to a complete description of fermion masses, the model predicts the lepton mixing matrix in terms of two parameters. The good measurement of $\theta_{13}$ makes these two parameters nearly proportional, leading to an approximate one-parameter description of neutrino oscillations. There is a sharp fourfold degenerate correlation between $\delta_{CP}$ and the atmospheric mixing angle $\theta_{23}$, so that maximal $\theta_{23}$ also implies maximal leptonic CP violation. The predicted electron neutrino and anti-neutrino appear…
