Investigations on solid tumor tissue have shown that O2 uptake by cancer cells depends largely on the supply conditions. The absence of sufficient neovascularization and a general rarefaction of the terminal vascular bed during tumor growth as well as reduced and inhcmogeneous blood flew due to vascular stasis in neoplastic tissue prevent normal functions of the terminal vascular bed. In some areas of the tumor circulating blood is not visible despite the intactness of vessels. The article compares "Meine freie deutsche Jugend", 2003, of Claudia Rusch and "Lagerfeuer", 2003 of Julia Franck. These two texts are partly autobiographical and tell about the life of many young people in East Germany (DDR). The two authors write of traumatic experiences related to the political situation in the DDR which are still alive even today in united Germany in the memory of many Germans.

The present study contributes to clarify the mechanism underlying the high efficacy of hepatocyte gene transfer mediated by hydrodynamic injection. Gene transfer experiments were performed employing the hAAT gene, and the efficacy and differential identification in mouse plasma of human transgene versus mouse gene was assessed by ELISA and proteomic procedures, respectively. Lower extremity soft tissue defect reconstruction with the serratus anterior flap

Reconstruction of limb-threatening lower extremity defects presents unique challenges. The selected method must provide adequate coverage of exposed bone, joints, and tendons while maximizing function of the limb. The traditional workhorse flaps, the free latissimus dorsi and rectus abdominis flaps, have been associated with donor site morbidity and bulkiness that can impair rehabilitation. We report a case series (n = 18) in which the free serratus anterior muscle flap and split thickness skin graft (STSG) was used for lower limb soft tissue coverage.
