MOESM2 of Subtracting the sequence bias from partially digested MNase-seq data reveals a general contribution of TFIIS to nucleosome positioning
2017
Additional file 2. Metagene analysis of the chromatin and naked DNA signals. A, B) Genes were scaled to the same length and then aligned to their TSS or their pAS. All the genes in the yeast genome for which a TSS was available were considered. Zoom-in view of the data in Fig. 1a: A) closer to the TSS; B) closer to the pAS. C) Those genes whose pAS was at least 500 bp away from a TSS were selected, scaled to the same length, and represented as in B. D) Difference between the corrected and raw signals. Genes were scaled and aligned as in Fig. 1a, b. The Y-axis represents the logarithm of the p value of the difference. Two different curves are shown: one represents the positive difference val…
Developmental commonalities between object and face recognition in adolescence
2016
In the visual perception literature, the recognition of faces has often been contrasted with that of non-face objects, in terms of differences with regard to the role of parts, part relations and holistic processing. However, recent evidence from developmental studies has begun to blur this sharp distinction. We review evidence for a protracted development of object recognition that is reminiscent of the well-documented slow maturation observed for faces. The prolonged development manifests itself in a retarded processing of metric part relations as opposed to that of individual parts and offers surprising parallels to developmental accounts of face recognition, even though the interpretati…
Assessing the accommodation response after near visual tasks using different handheld electronic devices
2018
ABSTRACT Purpose: To assess the accommodation response after short reading periods using a tablet and a smartphone as well as determine potential differences in the accommodation response at various stimulus vergences using a Hartmann- Shack aberrometer. Methods: Eighteen healthy subjects with astigmatism of less than 1 D, corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better, and normal findings in an ophthalmic examination were enrolled. Accommodation responses were obtained under three different conditions: accommodation system of the eye relaxed and visually stressed with a tablet and an smartphone for 10 min, at a distance of 0.25 m from the subject's eyes. Three measurements of accommodation res…
From Baby's Play to Child's Play: A Study on the Subjectivation Process of Autistic Children
2018
ABSTRACT Could the primitive play of the baby reveal early traces of a probable autistic organization underway with the young child? To what extent the investment of the baby with regard to the objects of the external world and the environment could be associated with his first experiences with the maternal object? Such questions are addressed in this article, which main objective is to address the subjectivation process of autistic children, on basis of the relation between the early play of the baby and the symbolic play of the young child. Through a longitudinal study of infants showing risk of autism, it has been found that it is possible to detect at an early age peculiarities in the w…

Outcomes of cataract surgery in diabetic patients: results of the Pan American Collaborative Retina Study Group
2018
Purpose: This study was designed to evaluate the visual and anatomical outcomes after cataract surgery in diabetic patients with different intraoperative therapeutic strategies. Methods: The research design comprised of a multicentric, retrospective, interventional study conducted at 6 centers in Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Spain, and Venezuela. We included 138 diabetic patients with at least 6-month follow-up following phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and central subfield thickness were collected at baseline and at 1-, 2-, 3-, and 6-month follow-up. Of these, 42 cases were not treated with any intraoperative coadjuva…
