Diketopiperazine 1 consisting of L-(γ-guanidino-α-amino)butyric acid and L-phenylalanine was synthesized as the hydroacetate and as the hydronitrate. Its structure was confirmed by X-ray analysis. In contrast to reports in the literature (Lipton et al.), compound 1 does not induce enantioselevtive catalysis of Strecker reactions. (© Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. MILES extended: Stellar population synthesis models from the optical to the infrared

We present the first single-burst stellar population models which covers the optical and the infrared wavelength range between 3500 and 50000 Angstrom and which are exclusively based on empirical stellar spectra. To obtain these joint models, we combined the extended MILES models in the optical with our new infrared models that are based on the IRTF (Infrared Telescope Facility) library. The latter are available only for a limited range in terms of both age and metallicity. The experimental investigation of the base-catalyzed rearrangements of 3-acylamino-1,2,4-oxadiazoles evidenced a new reaction pathway which competes with the well-known ring-degenerate Boulton- Katritzky rearrangement (BKR). The new reaction consists of a one-atom side-chain rearrangement that is base-activated, occurs at a higher temperature than the BKR, and irreversibly leads to the corresponding 2-acylamino-1,3,4-oxadiazoles. International audience; Continuous hydrothermal flow synthesis process has shown great advantages concerning the control of particle size and morphology through the optimization of supercritical water processing parameters. In particular, micromixing is a key issue of the process for controlling the nucleation mechanism. A Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model is suggested for nanoparticle size determination using a population balance approach. In this work, a capillary electrophoretic methodology for the enantioselective in vitro evaluation of drugs metabolism is applied to the evaluation of fluoxetine (FLX) metabolism by cytochrome 2D6 (CYP2D6). This methodology comprises the in-capillary enzymatic reaction and the chiral separation of FLX and its major metabolite, norfluoxetine enantiomers employing highly sulfated β-CD and the partial filling technique. Alterations in the number and/or morphology of centrosomes are frequently observed in human tumours. However, it is still debated if a direct link between supernumerary centrosomes and tumorigenesis exists and if centrosome amplification could directly cause aneuploidy. Here, we report that hydroxyurea treatment induced centrosome amplification in both human fibroblasts expressing the HPV16 -E6-E7 oncoproteins, which act principally by targeting p53 and pRB, respectively, and in conditional pRB deficient mouse fibroblasts.
