Le società democratiche stanno vivendo oggi una fase di grande trasformazione a causa anche dei grandi progressi dovuti alla tecnologie digitali. Di fronte alle difficoltà legate al fenomeno dell'individualismo bisogna evitare entrambi gli estremi: quello di chi demonizza la tecnica e i fenomeni di modernizzazione e quelli di chi guarda ai nuovi strumenti con un fideismo acritico. Le intuzioni di Tocqueville possano ancora oggi aiutarci ad avere un atteggiamento critico equilibrato tra questi due estremi.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the in vitro and ex-vivo effect of IL-6 inhibition on the balance between Th1, Th2, Th17 and Treg cells. METHODS: Ten consecutive adult patients with active early rheumatoid arthritis (ERA) and ten healthy volunteers were included in the study. Pur essendo coeve, le biografie intellettuali di Antonio Rosmini e Alexis de Tocqueville non mostrano piena reciprocità di espliciti richiami bibliografici intercorsi tra i due. Il confronto diretto, non l’unico ma senz’altro il più approfondito, è stato operato da Rosmini limitatamente al libro della Democrazia in America pubblicato nel 1835. Il filosofo di Rovereto lo pone in risalto nella definizione di molti argomenti trattati nella Filosofia della politica del 1839 e, in seguito, lo riprende occasionalmente in altri suoi studi. Association between toenail scandium levels and risk of acute myocardial infarction in European men: the EURAMIC and Heavy Metals Study

The association between scandium status and risk of acute myocardial infarction (MI) was examined in a multicentre case control study in 10 centres from Europe and Israel. Scandium in toenails was assessed in 684 cases and 724 controls less than 70 years of age. Mean concentrations of toenail scandium were 6.74 micro/kg in cases and 7.75 microg/kg in controls. Scandium among controls, adjusted for age and centre was positively associated with concentrations of lycopene and oleic acid in adipose tissue (P = 0.002 for both nutrients). Se investigaron las características químico-físicas de los salvados de arroz en distintos momentos de su procesado industrial, incluyendo materia prima (salvados de arroz blanco y vaporizado), salvado peletizado y salvado desgrasado. Se determinó la humedad, la acidez y el índice de peróxidos. Utilizando extractos en éter de petróleo y cromatografía de gases, se estableció el contenido lipídico total y los perfiles de los ácidos grasos. Mediante HPLC se determinaron los tocoferoles y el γ-orizanol.
