Laying the foundations for gene therapy in Italy for patients with haemophilia A: A Delphi consensus study
2022
IntroductionCurrent treatment for haemophilia A involves factor VIII replacement or non-replacement (emicizumab) therapies, neither of which permanently normalise factor VIII levels. Gene therapy using adeno-associated viral (AAV) vectors is an emerging long-term treatment strategy for people with severe haemophilia A (PwSHA) that is likely to be available for clinical use in the near future. AimThis article proposes practical guidelines for the assessment, treatment, and follow-up of potential PwSHA candidates for AAV-based gene therapy. MethodUsing the Delphi method, a working group of Italian stakeholders with expertise in and knowledge of the care of adults with haemophilia A analysed l…
Mathematics teaching development: Learning from developmental research in Norway
2014
Published version of an article in the journal: ZDM - International Journal on Mathematics Education. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11858-013-0567-6 This paper is a product of mathematics teaching developmental research projects based on establishing communities of inquiry comprising schoolteachers working at all grades and university-based teacher educator/researchers (didacticians). The projects are established on the principle that teachers taking an inquiry stance in their practice can assert their agency to develop their teaching to enable improved learning experiences for their students. The educational context and the societal pressure to develop ma…
Multimycotoxin LC-MS/MS Analysis in Tea Beverages after Dispersive Liquid-Liquid Microextraction (DLLME).
2017
The aim of the present study was to develop a multimycotoxin liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method with a dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction procedure (DLLME) for the analysis of AFs, 3aDON, 15aDON, NIV, HT-2, T-2, ZEA, OTA, ENNs, and BEA in tea beverages and to evaluate their mycotoxin contents. The proposed method was characterized in terms of linearity, limits of detection (LODs), limits of quantification (LOQs), recoveries, repeatability (intraday precision), reproducibility (interday precision), and matrix effects to check suitability. The results show LODs in the range of 0.05-10 μg/L, LOQs in the range of 0.2-33 μg/L, and recoveries in the range of 65…
Student–teacher dialectic in the co-creation of a zone of proximal development: an example from kindergarten mathematics
2020
This paper reports on a case study which explores the co-creation of a zone of proximal development (ZPD) in a mathematics teaching-learning activity in a Norwegian kindergarten. To capture the com...
Teacher orchestration of classroom interaction in science: exploring dialogic and authoritative passages in whole-class discussions
2019
Whereas science is fundamentally a result of a dialogic debate, the authoritative approach has been conceived of as a fundamental part of school science. Dialogic interactions encompass the mutual appreciation of different ideas manifested in teacher supportiveness toward students and, in authoritative interactions, the focus is more on the science’s or teacher’s point of view. Whereas dialogic and authoritative interactions have been viewed as oppositional in recent educational research, authoritative interactions could well be the seed for and give strength and meaning to dialogic interactions, and thus, to the overall dialogue. The focus in this study is on the interplay between authorit…
Ethical Competence and Possibilities of Dialogic Education
2015
<p>This article is dedicated to the possibilities of shaping ethical competence through dialogic education. The problem of shaping a future specialist’s ethical competence in many respects depends on the quality of teaching ethics as a training discipline as well as on the teaching methods. El relato digital como herramiento pedagógica en la enseñanza de lenguas extranjeras a través del uso de la secuencia didáctica
2012
Digital storytelling constitutes a pedagogical tool for teachers to work on different linguistic skills while generating students’ interest and attention. This study analyses the usefulness of including digital storytelling within a didactic sequence in order to work on linguistic routines such as greetings and leave-takings in English as a foreign language. To this aim, we have worked with first year students in the Faculty of Education at the Universitat de València to improve their ability to adapt their language skills to specific situations within common daily interaction. We have designed a didactic sequence consisting of different workshops that have been put into practice in class. …
