Antikisierende Liebesgeschichten im Taschenbuchformat – Die Briefromane ›Menander und Glycerion‹ und ›Krates und Hipparchia‹

2021

The article analyzes the two later works of Christoph Marin Wieland, Menander and Glycerion, 1803, and Krates and Hipparchia, 1804. The actions of the short epistolary novels take place in ancient Greece. In this article are analyzed the formal, thematic and local similarities. In this article I would like to focus on the reason why shortly after the publication of the long letter novel Aristipp, 1801, Christoph Martin Wieland changes his concept of text types.

2020

In this work Wunschloses Unglück is read as if it were an impressionistic biography in images. The tale was born out of an attempt to give Handke’s fifty-year-old mother, who died of suicide, back a story and an identity. A way to give content and contours to the woman and to neutralize the depersonalizing effect of the news of the event in the pages of the local newspaper. The story of the mother is actually, from the very beginning, a reflection of the writer on his own work, on the difficulty of writing ‘true’ stories, on the tormented search for a precarious balance between description and documentation, between narration and image, between truth and fiction. Handke would seem to be gui…

Die vielgestaltige Wassermetaphorik bei Yoko Tawada

2018

The famous German-Japanese author Yoko Tawada lives since 1982 in Germany, where she writes in Japanese and German. This essay examines the multiform metaphor of water in the works of the writer. Furthermore, the study explores the apparently close relations between water, with its continuous changes, and the existence of a fixed identity. This paper also questions how water (a metaphor for identity) in many passages of the selected texts, is sought and rejected but also feared, desired and modified by the protagonists.

2018

This article examines the particular relationship that the German-Japanese writer has with the language. For this reason, I will analyze some texts that are included in the three works and that constitute a kind of summa of the main linguistic aspects that emerge throughout the Tawadian literary corpus: Talisman, 1996, Überseezungen, 2002, and Akzentfrei, 2016. Talisman is still considered the most famous book written by the author in German, Überseezungen is defined as a sort of logbook of a journey that starts from Japan and leads through different continents and Akzentfrei that combines linguistic associations and surreal images.

Tradizione e innovazione.
