The organization of times and places of work are key elements of working conditions, and define employees’ possibilities for balancing work and other life spheres. This study analyses several aspects of temporal and spatial flexibility, and their associations with employees’ work-life balance. This study separates four dimensions of temporal flexibility and one indicator of spatial flexibility. The dimensions of temporal flexibility are the number of hours worked, when the hours are worked, work-time intensity, and the degree of working-time autonomy. Many European families are affected by the 24/7 economy, but relatively little is known about how working parents experience nonstandard hours. The aim of this study was to analyze the possible associations of dual earners’ work schedules and other work-related factors with their experience of time- and strain-based work–family conflict. These phenomena were examined among dual earners living in Finland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, countries that differ in working time practices and policies. Beyond “liberals” and “conservatives”: Complexity in ideology, moral intuitions, and worldview among Swedish voters

This research investigated the congruence between the ideologies of political parties and the ideological preferences (N = 1515), moral intuitions (N = 1048), and political values and worldviews (N = 1345) of diverse samples of Swedish adults who voted or intended to vote for the parties. Logistic regression analyses yielded support for a series of hypotheses about variations in ideology beyond the left-right division. Abstract Recent advances in nano-technology and nano-additives can give enhanced properties to natural hydraulic lime (NHL), creating a multifunctional material. We have prepared a novel nanocomposite, made of a commercial mortar with 1 wt% and 5 wt% added titania nanoparticles (NPs). These TiO 2 NPs are themselves doped with 1 mol% silver, to give the material enhanced photocatalytic and antimicrobial properties. The Ag-doped TiO 2 NPs were made from a simple, costs effective, aqueous green nanosynthesis process, and the end material only contains 0.01–0.05% Ag. The Large Observatory For x-ray Timing (LOFT) was studied within ESA M3 Cosmic Vision framework and participated in the final down-selection for a launch slot in 2022-2024. Thanks to the unprecedented combination of effective area and spectral resolution of its main instrument, LOFT will study the behaviour of matter under extreme conditions, such as the strong gravitational field in the innermost regions of accretion flows close to black holes and neutron stars, and the supra-nuclear densities in the interior of neutron stars. Tässä tutkimuksessa on tutkittu opettajapuhetta kriittisen diskurssianalyysin keinoin kriittisestä tietokäsityksestä lähtien. Aineisto on kerätty teemahaastatteluina viideltä opettajalta sekä ryhmähaastatteluna seitsemältä opettajalta videoimalla haastattelut ja litteroimalla puhe. Opettajapuheesta on haluttu selvittää millaisiin diskursseihin koulukultturi jakautuu, millaista tietokäsitystä opettajat tuottavat ja kuinka opettajapuheen koulukulttuuri kohtaa vallitsevan inkluusioajattelun (yhdistynyt järjestelmä) ja ehdotetun kriittisen inkluusion kanssa. Tässä artikkelissa tarkastelemme erityisesti korkeakoulutukseen liittyvää kysymystä siitä, kuinka opiskelijat omaksuvat taidon osallistua oman alansa asiantuntijadiskurssiin useammalla kuin yhdellä kielellä. Keskeisiä teemoja ovat tieteen erikoissanaston eli termistön kysymykset sekä tieteen kielivarannon yhteistoiminnallisuus. Esimerkkitapauksena käsittelemme Tieteen termipankkia, jonka kautta korostamme yliopisto-opetuksen merkitystä tieteen kielen kielivarannon välittämisessä ja kannattelussa. nonPeerReviewed
