Compensazione Geodetica della rete siciliana UNIPA-NetGeo

2012

2010

The aim of this work is to discuss interrelations and cultural contacts between the Greek colonists of Himera and the native peoples and communities in the chora of the colony, mainly going up the three valleys of the Northern Imera, Torto and San Leonardo rivers and the hilly watershed area between the Northern Imera and the Southern Imera River. The intensive and systematic survey of all these areas allowed us to connect settlements with their surrounding areas and to identify a sequence of districts (Serra di Puccia, Terravecchia-Tutusino on the Imera; Mura Pregne, Colle Madore on the Torto; Cozzo Sannita, Pizzo Pipitone on the San Leonardo river), identified not only on geomorphologic a…

Geomatic applications tourban park in palermo

2015

Over the last few years topographical techniques have developed an exponential trend towards simplifying and speeding, both survey operations and analysis of data collected reaching at the same time ever higher levels of accuracy. Among the technologies that are increasingly taking the field in this context is part of the Mobile Mapping System (MMS) that, on any mobile platform, combines sensors and measurement systems designed to provide a 3D position of the platform and, at the same time, capable to acquire geographic data without the aid of control points on the ground. The study reported concerns the verification of the reliability metrics and a qualitative MMS in order to evaluate its …

Fenomenologia del paesaggio agrario alesino

2014

Our aim is to compare three different perceptions of the agricultural landscape of Hellenistic-Roman Sicily: the "cadrastal" landscape as shown in the Tables of Halaisa, the literary landscape, as evidenced by sources as the poetry of Theocritus, and the landscape reconstructed through archaeological surveys (landscape archaeology). These perceptions are mediated by the elements considered: in the Tables the detection of the boundaries of public-ownwd lots, in the poetry of Theocritus the creation of an ideal landscape, while the archaeology of landscape allows us to reconstruct a system of population, result of complex interactions. This parallel analysis allows us to use the archaeologica…

On the use of unmanned aerial systems for environmental monitoring

2018

[EN] Environmental monitoring plays a central role in diagnosing climate and management impacts on natural and agricultural systems; enhancing the understanding of hydrological processes; optimizing the allocation and distribution of water resources; and assessing, forecasting, and even preventing natural disasters. Nowadays, most monitoring and data collection systems are based upon a combination of ground-based measurements, manned airborne sensors, and satellite observations. These data are utilized in describing both small-and large-scale processes, but have spatiotemporal constraints inherent to each respective collection system. Bridging the unique spatial and temporal divides that li…

Metodo e sistema di calcolo di errore di altezza in immagini digitali

2010

Influence of bed roughness on flow and turbulence structure around a partially-buried, isolated freshwater mussel

2023

The present study uses eddy-resolving numerical simulations to investigate how bed roughness affects flow and turbulence structure around an isolated, partially-buried mussel (Unio elongatulus) aligned with the incoming flow. The rough-bed simulations resolve the flow past the exposed part of a gravel bed, whose surface is obtained from a laboratory experiment that also provides some additional data for validation of the numerical model. Results are also discussed for the limiting case of a horizontal smooth bed. Additionally, the effects of varying the level of burial of the mussel inside the substrate and the discharge through the two mussel siphons are investigated via a set of simulatio…

Evidenze altomedievali nelle valli dei fiumi Torto e Imera settentrionale

2014
