ntroduction : Previous longitudinal research suggests that motor proficiency in early life predicts physical activity in adulthood. Familial effects including genetic and environmental factors could explain the association, but no long-term follow-up studies have taken into account potential confounding by genetic and social family background. Neonatal outcome following long-distance air travel for fetoscopic laser coagulation treatment of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome

Abstract Objective To investigate the impact of undertaking long-distance air travel to a specialized medical center while pregnant in order to undergo fetoscopic laser coagulation (FLC) for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS). Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted of women with TTTS who travelled by air (n = 16) or land (n = 61) to the Centre of Perinatal Diagnosis and Microinvasive Fetal Surgery, Mainz, Germany, between January 1, 2006, and December 31, 2010. Genetic and environmental influences on hearing at different frequencies separately for the better and worse hearing ear in older women

The purpose of the present study was to examine the relative contribution of genetic and environmental effects on the air-conducted hearing threshold levels at low (0.125-0.5 kHz), mid (1-2 kHz), and high (4-8 kHz) frequencies separately for the better and worse hearing ear in older women. We also examined the distribution of audiogram configurations. Data was analysed using quantitative genetic modelling.
