Cultivation of microorganisms, plants or animal cells requires liquid agitation in order to ensure oxygen and nutrient transfer and to maintain cell suspension. Many studies on animal cell damage due to mechanical agitation and sparging aeration have shown that mechanical damage of freely suspended animal cells is in most cases associated with bursting bubbles at the air–liquid interface (Barrett et al., 2010). Gas bubbles are usually generated by direct air sparging aimed at supplying oxygen to the culture medium. Combining Defocus and Photoconsistency for Depth Map Estimation in 3D Integral Imaging

This paper presents the application of a depth estimation method for scenes acquired using a Synthetic Aperture Integral Imaging (SAII) technique. SAII is an autostereoscopic technique consisting of an array of cameras that acquires images from different perspectives. The depth estimation method combines a defocus and a correspondence measure. This approach obtains consistent results and shows noticeable improvement in the depth estimation as compared to a minimum variance minimisation strategy, also tested in our scenes. AbstractWe show that the realization Ap of the elliptic operator Au=div(Q∇u)+F⋅∇u+Vu in Lp(RN,RN), p∈[1,+∞[, generates a strongly continuous semigroup, and we determine its domain D(Ap)={u∈W2,p(RN,RN):F⋅∇u+Vu∈Lp(RN,RN)} if 1<p<+∞. The diffusion coefficients Q=(qij) are uniformly elliptic and bounded together with their first-order derivatives, the drift coefficients F can grow as |x|log|x|, and V can grow logarithmically. Our approach relies on the Monniaux–Prüss theorem on the sum of noncommuting operators. Unbounded derivations and *-automorphisms groups of Banach quasi *-algebras

This paper is devoted to the study of unbounded derivations on Banach quasi *-algebras with a particular emphasis to the case when they are infinitesimal generators of one parameter automorphisms groups. Both of them, derivations and automorphisms are considered in a weak sense; i.e., with the use of a certain families of bounded sesquilinear forms. Conditions for a weak *-derivation to be the generator of a *-automorphisms group are given.

Continuous frames for unbounded operators

Few years ago G\u{a}vru\c{t}a gave the notions of $K$-frame and atomic system for a linear bounded operator $K$ in a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$ in order to decompose $\mathcal{R}(K)$, the range of $K$, with a frame-like expansion. These notions are here generalized to the case of a densely defined and possibly unbounded operator on a Hilbert space $A$ in a continuous setting, thus extending what have been done in a previous paper in a discrete framework.

The induction and reduction precesses of an O*-vector space \({{\mathfrak M}}\) obtained by means of a projection taken, respectively, in \({{\mathfrak M}}\) itself or in its weak bounded commutant \({{\mathfrak M}^\prime_{\rm w}}\) are studied. In the case where \({{\mathfrak M}}\) is a partial GW*-algebra, sufficient conditions are given for the induced and the reduced spaces to be partial GW*-algebras again.
