SphinX: A fast solar Photometer in X-rays

The scientific goals and construction details of a new design, Polish X-ray spectrophotometer are given. It will be incorporated within the Russian TESIS X and EUV complex aboard the forthcoming CORO-NAS solar mission. SphinX (Solar Photometer in X-rays) will use PIN silicon detectors for high time resolution (0.01 s) measurements of the solar spectra of quiet and active corona in the range 0.5–15 keV. A new filter-fluorescence target concept will be employed to allow for a fast photometry of the solar X-ray flux variations in selected, well defined narrow spectral bands including the Fe XXVI and Fe XXV iron line groups.

Thermal structure of a hot non-flaring corona from Hinode/EIS

In previous studies a very hot plasma component has been diagnosed in solar active regions through the images in three different narrow-band channels of SDO/AIA. This diagnostic from EUV imaging data has also been supported by the matching morphology of the emission in the hot Ca XVII line, as observed with Hinode/EIS. This evidence is debated because of unknown distribution of the emission measure along the line of sight. Here we investigate in detail the thermal distribution of one of such regions using EUV spectroscopic data. We report on lifetime measurements of the 3d(5)(S-6)4s4p(P-3)y P-6 degrees states of Fe II using time-resolved vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) laser spectroscopy. A laser-produced plasma has been used as the source of free Fe+ ions. The tunable VUV radiation was obtained employing resonantly enhanced sum-difference four-wave-mixing of short laser pulses. We obtained tau((6)P(3/2)degrees) = 3.90(20) ns, tau((6)P(5/2)degrees) = 3.80(20) ns and tau((6)P(7/2)degrees) = 3.65(20) ns.

We present the first theoretical description and also experimental evidence for the amplification of XUV and soft-X-ray radiation by parametric stimulated emission in neutral gases driven by near-IR laser pulses reaching small-signal-gain up to 8000.

The FIA-spectrophotometric determination of doxycycline was carried out by reaction of the drug with cupric ions entrapped in a polymeric material in a packed-bed reactor: the complex formed was then injected into a manifold with an alkaline solution as carrier. The developed colour was monitored at 395.0 nm. The method was applied to the determination of doxycycline in different pharmaceutical formulations. The calibration graph for doxycycline hyclate was linear over the range 10.0-80.0 mg ml-1 (n = 8) with a relative standard deviation of 1.4% (at 25 mg ml-1) and a sample throughput of 128 h-1. α-Chymotrypsin-Catalyzed Reaction Confined in Block-Copolymer Vesicles

Herein the reactivity of the enzyme α-chymotrypsin in the confinement of polystyrene-block-poly(acrylic acid) (PS-b-PAA) vesicles was investigated. Enzyme and substrate molecules were encapsulated in PS-b-PAA vesicles with internal diameters ranging from 26 nm to 165 nm during the formation of the vesicles. While the loading efficiencies of enzyme and substrate molecules were practically identical for vesicles of identical size, they were found to increase with decreasing vesicle size. [EN] Mebendazole (MBZ) and related anticancer benzimidazoles act binding the beta-subunit of Tubulin (TU) before dimerization with alpha-TU with subsequent blocking microtubule formation. Laser flash photolysis (LFP) is a new tool to investigate drug-albumin interactions and to determine binding parameters such as affinity constant or population of binding sites. Study of thermal resistance and in vitro bioaccessibility of patulin from artificially contaminated apple products

Abstract Apple juices and purees represent categories widely consumed by whole population and above all children. Patulin (PAT) is a mycotoxin known for its acute and chronic effects in animals. Several studies indicate there is a risk associated to the PAT intake, through the consumption of purees and apple juices.
