International audience; We study a class of mathematics education MA students in an introductory course on Chaos and Fractals, as they grapple with the Sierpinksi triangle, and in particular with the apparent paradox that its area equals 0, while its perimeter is infinitely long. For this purpose, we network an approach for investigating the construction of knowledge in small groups with one for examining how ideas and ways of reasoning function-as-if-shared in a classroom. Cross-linking maths: Using keynotes to structure a curriculum for future teachers

This article presents some of the results from a broader research study of management styles within the Catalan university world. Two management styles are defined (the collegial and the managerial) and a relationship is established between some of the characteristics of these styles, some discursive features and the gender of the managers. Specifically, an analysis is made of the linguistic markers pertaining to the deictic modality in the discourse that constructs the identity of the analysed individuals. This article presents the results of the empirical validation of the questionnaire ActEval (Self-Report on the Evaluation Activity of university teachers). ActEval attempts to identify how important teachers consider a variety of assessment tasks, whether they feel competent, and to what extent they use them in their daily practice, in line with the new competences under the European Higher Education Area. Validation is studied using Non-Metric Multidimensional Scaling (PROXSCAL) and the reliability results show high levels of internal consistency. Unilateral Maximal Isometric Hex Bar Pull Test : Within-Session Reliability and Lower Body Force Production in Male and Female Freeski Athletes

The aim of the study was to (1) assess the within-session reliability of a unilateral isometric hex bar pull (UIHBP) maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) test and, (2) determine unilateral isometric absolute peak force (PFabs) and relative peak force (PF) values in freeski athletes. Twenty-one male and eight female academy to national team freeskiers performed the novel UIHBP MVC task on a force plate and PFabs and relative PF were assessed (1000 Hz). Within-session measures of PFabs offered high reliability on left and right limbs for males (ICC = 0.91–0.94, CV = 2.6–2.2%) and females (ICC = 0.94–0.94, CV = 1.4–1.6%), while relative PF measures showed good to high reliability in both left a…
