Safety evaluation of turbo roundabout with and without internal traffic separations considering autonomous vehicles operation

The paper presents a microsimulation approach for assessing the safety performance of turbo-roundabouts where Cooperative Autonomous Vehicles “CAVs” have been mixed with conventional vehicles “CVs”. Based on the analysis of vehicle trajectories from VISSIM and subsequent analysis of traffic conflicts through the Surrogate Safety Assessment Model (SSAM), the research aims to evaluate the safety benefits of turbo-roundabouts where the lanes are physically separated by raised curbs compared to roundabouts without curbs. A two-phase insertion technique of unexpected customers for a dynamic dial-a-ride problem

Abstract This work deals with a dynamic dial-a-ride problem with time window constraints. In particular, new unplanned requests for service may arise at a vehicle stop and the driver must decide in real-time whether to accept or reject them. For this problem, we have developed a two-phase insertion algorithm based on route perturbations: the first phase, which is run off-line when the vehicle moves between two successive stops, aims at creating a feasible neighborhood of the current route; while the second phase, which is run in real-time every time a new request occurs, inserts, when possible, the delivery stop of the new customer in the current route.

This paper explores the roles of technological innovations in the growth of Japan’s motor vehicle industry, mainly from technology spillover perspective from the early 2000s to today. Adaptive Control of Underactuated Underwater Vehicles

This paper deals with a control strategy for underactuated underwater vehicles whose target is trajectory tracking. A cascade approach is employed which brings to a control law consisting of: a) an outer loop, obtained from the vehicle kinematic model, which forces this model to track the reference trajectory; b) an inner adaptive control loop which forces the system to track the reference signals given by the outer control loop. Conditions for asymptotic tracking of the trajectory and boundness of the unactuated velocities are given. Simulation tests illustrate the proposed approach.

This work introduces a Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol designed to allow a group of underwater robots that share a wireless communication channel to effectively communicate with each other. The goal of the Underwater Multirobot Cooperative Intervention MAC (UMCI-MAC) protocol presented in this work is to minimize the end to end delay and the jitter.
