The aim of this research was to optimise the performance of the storage, retrieval, analysis and interactive visualisation of biomolecular pathways data. This was achieved by the adoption of new technologies and a variety of highly optimised data structures, algorithms and strategies across the different layers of the software. The first challenge to overcome was the creation of a long-lasting, large-scale web application to enable pathways navigation; the Pathway Browser. A naive approach to compose aerial images in a mosaic fashion

There is growing interest in multiple sequence image analysis to represent those data in a new landscape, for instance reconstruction of old films, mosaicing of images. This paper focuses attention on the mosaic problem; it introduces a naive method to link together images where a common part of the scene is present among two images. An application has been developed to test the method on aerial sequences of images. Dichas producciones proceden de Europa, Estados Unidos, Canadá y México. Specific transfer effects following variable priority dual-task training in older adults

International audience; Purpose: Past divided attention training studies in older adults have suggested that variable priority training (VPT) tends to show larger improvement than fixed priority training (FPT). However, it remains unclear whether VPT leads to larger transfer effects. Methods: In this study, eighty-three older adults aged between 55 and 65 received five 1-hour sessions of VPT, FPT or of an active placebo. Legibility of Text and Pictograms in Variable Message Signs: Can Single-Word Messages Outperform Pictograms?

The current research shows the advantage of single-word messages in the particular case of variable message signs (VMSs) with a high aspect ratio.Early studies on traffic sign design proposed that pictorial information would advantage equivalent text messages in static signs.We used a driving simulator to present individually 36 VMSs, showing six words (e.g., "congestion") and six danger signs (e.g., congestion traffic sign). In Experiment 1, 18 drivers read aloud the text or orally identified the pictograms as soon as they could correctly do it. AIMS: To evaluate the visual performance of an aberration-free intraocular lens (IOL) in patients with different corneal profiles using adaptive optics visual simulation. METHODS: A crx1 adaptive optics visual simulator was used to simulate the aberration pattern of an aberration-free IOL combined with five corneal profiles: virgin corneas and corneas with low and high myopic ablations and low and high hyperopic ablations. Ten eyes of 10 subjects were evaluated, and monocular distance visual acuity (VA) at 100%, 50% and 10% of contrast was measured.
